@titch was it as bad as people were saying on twitter? Queues, sound, etc. Primavera used to be top notch on all that so it would be a same, plus add to that all the cancelations they didn't replace... Still lots to see and easy to have a blast anyway, but just curious

Every bit as bad.
Every bar had between an hour and two hour queues, all night (except for maybe first 90 mins).
One person was taking your order, then typing into the system, then taking payment, then slowly pouring your beer. The same person. Every festival you go to has some people continuously pouring beers as they sell so quickly. It was just shambolic.
Water was only sold at the bars and there are three taps on site with queues longer than the bars.
No food concessions allowed to sell drinks and punters only allowed to bring in one 33cl bottle.
Honestly, it was dangerous.
80,000 people (they added 20,000 more tickets without adjusting facilities it seems) on a warm June day. Some drinking beforehand, some taking drugs and no access to water. If they've sold more day tickets for today and tomorrow (that was always the case- Thursday has always been the quietest day) then they face real problems. I've heard that even the two medical tents didn't have water.
Because of the extra tickets the overcrowding and bottle necks leading to some stages was also dangerous. People have been talking about panic attacks and fainting. It could so easily be worse than that.
I left before midnight, before Pavement, Black Midi and DJ Shadow. I've never done that in the previous 4 years. If they haven't sorted it tonight i'll leave even earlier and just enjoy this beautiful city instead. A pavement cafe with a beer or two and watching life goes by sounds delightful right now.
Not looking forward to going back on site at all- but they MUST have got the message, so hopefully they will have done something about it.
And the sound was very quiet- but half the time it didn't matter cos you were in a bar queue anyway.
On the plus side, Les Savy Fav were amazing and Dinosaur Jr were too. I opened with Faye Webster, whichh was lovely as it wasn't too crowded and saw a bit of Yo La Tengo from a very long way away.
But this will be my last one I think. A real shame.

Sorry to hear about that. Besides twitter, I've heard more or less the same from people with lots of years of festivals on their backs and everyone agrees it was one of the worst experiences ever. They might get the message and fix something for today but the number of people will be a problem anyway. Plus with the Strokes cancelation they gave day-tickets-goers the chance to go to their show next week, can't imagine what can happen on that day. Also you can't go out and pick something because it's far from restaurants and shit. There are 2 or 3 spots that always looked like a mousetrap but tbh they were quite good at dealing with that in the past.
I've heard Rayban stage was incredibly busy when Dino played, which is a bit strange as they go nearly every year. It seemed it wasn't THAT bad on the big stages on the far right, but it might only be when compared to it.
Porto Primavera for me next week, which used to be light a "relaxed" version of Barcelona. Not so sure anymore
