Much better last night. They put some extra water points in and the bar queues were manageable. It used to be that you were nervous smuggling drugs into a festival but last night i managed to get 3 water bottles past the security. Titchjuicy 1 The Man 0.
Utter craziness that they won't let you bring more than one small bottle.
Anyway- Weyes Blood was sublime. And she covered Air That I Breathe by The Hollies, which was one of my Dad's favourite songs- so it all got a bit emotional.
Fontaines DC- while I can take or leave them on record, credit where it's due- they owned the main stage. Had a massive crowd too for an evening set.
Highlight was Little Simz though. Not on main stage but on one of the bigger other stages. She blew the lid off the place. Crowd went nuts for her too. She has it all as a live performer- massive charisma, wore a huge smile the whole time and the crowd really fed off that (actually they fed off eachother), and just so much skill as an MC. One more decent album and she'll be headlining Glastonbury.
Left pretty early cos there was nothing late I was itching to see.
The vibe was just so much better though.
Tonight's menu looks something like...
Jenny Hval Mavis Staples Black Country New Road Nick Cave Gorillaz Tyler The Creator

I’ve had tickets to see Mavis staples twice, and was unable to go on both occasions (once because my daughter was born the day before the show, the other due to COVID). Hope she’s as great as they say.
Cool garageish festival by the end of August, last minute they've had to swap King Gizzard and Dan Deacon for Dino Jr and Viagra Boys. Not bad but I was looking forward to the former ones quite more
As a warm up I've been listening to PUP, Chad Vangaalen, Metz, Battles and some Spanish bands I never cared about

Just got tickets to see the manics and suede on a co-headline bill in toronto in November. That's a nice convenient way to knock two big acts off my 'never seen them live' list. Not much else happening between now and the end of the year, alas.

I was trying to score some tickets for Arctic Monkeys / Fontaines DC in Boston next year and the price is fucking insane. A pile of cunts bought up the tickets and reselling them on ticketmaster.
I also hate how they have so many presale events now to get tickets. Just open the fucking queue to everyone at the same time and let them duke it out for tickets.

FFS.
I was going to get tickets for montreal and decided against it for the same reason. Fuck that, I saw them open for oasis in 2006, it was all downhill from there.
I was supposed to see the manics and suede in toronto last week but had to go to a work conference in another city instead. But I'm getting a bit of a makeup, as ride and the charlatans are playing a joint show in montreal in february, where ride is doing 'nowhere' and the charlies are doing 'between 10th and 11th'...which seems an odd choice for a full-album show, but I imagine they'll do 'the only one I know' in the encore, so that'll be nice.
