i agree with harry completely though, what is the point in managers doing interviews after a game if they arent allowed to air their honest opinions. i thought his comments wernt too bad really, all he said was that clatternburg is a good ref but made a big mess of things for that incident. but yeah it is pretty disgraceful that he got away with a warning when loads of other managers have been fined/banned for similar comments.

i think censorship of managers is wrong completely, but if you have a rule in place you have to apply it to everyone.

Sorry Henry but the fact that he moved the ball further forward has nothing to do with it, he did that so he'd have a run up to the ball, most goalkeepers would have done the same.

The referee was clearly at fault for playing the advantage when they were defending in their own box and Nani blatently handled the ball. It wasn't made clear to Gomez and even the linesman had no clue what had happened, the goal shouldn't have stood imo because the referee didn't communicate his decision properly.

If doesn't matter where it is with 5 minutes to go or whatever and only a goal down, the last thing you want is anything slowed down.

Just cause he's a goalkeeper doesn't mean he can move a free kick ten yards forward, unless advantage is being played in which case everything is back to normal.

I actually agree that they should have found a way to rule out the goal, but to be honest in relation to exactly what transpired between nani, gomes and clattenburg, i don't see how he could have ruled it out.

What are you on about? I never mentioned the time or the scoreline, i just said that what Gomes did is what every keeper would do, he put the ball a few yards further forward so he could get a run up to the ball without leaving the pitch. Do you honestly think the keeper knew advantage had been played?

No i'm making the point that there's nothing stupid about playing an advantage inside someone's own box, and i'm saying no matter where it is on the pitch when there's 5 minutes to go you want to keep the tempo up and hate stop start.

Yes of course he's technically cheating, but your point was that if he moved it forward then he didn't think it was a free kick and was just playing on, but that point is bollocks because it was pretty obvious he thought it was a free kick.

And it is stupid to play an advantage from a handball in their own penalty area where there's two opposition players ready to pounce on any mistake.

Let's grant it wasn't wise to play advantage once he's done that how can he possibly rule it out

but the whole thing with the advantage being played is that if it turns out that no advantage has been gained, ie the opposition regain possession then they just bring it back to the free kick dont they. so that is exactly what should have happened if he really was playing advantage

If i remember rightly, when he did was put his arms out wide signalling "no penalty" and backed away, but the linesman (who Gomes was looking at) was waving his flag for a free kick, the referee couldn't see Nani handball it because he was on the opposite side, but the linesman could, Gomes must have assumed the free kick was given because of the linesman's flag. Even so, advantage should not be played to a goalkeeper, as that is clearly not an advantage to have the ball in that position.

I don't think they do, once the whole play has stopped they usually go back and book a player or revisit the offence . If so though you're right and everything i've said is bollocks (cause then there is summat he could have done)
