Liam Gallagher thinks the world is “crying out” for a new rock band - and he is going to give it one.His new band Beady Eye contains four of the five final members of Oasis, the group Liam formerly featured in with his brother Noel Gallagher. The two siblings had a famously tumultuous relationship, but Liam has put it behind him and is now looking forward to Beady Eye’s future. “The world is crying out for a great rock ‘n’ roll band. It has been for ages, man. That’s why the time is right for Beady Eye. The time is right now,” he told British NME magazine. The band’s new album will be released in early 2011 and is symbolically entitled Different Gear, Still Speeding. Liam is so proud of the group’s work he believes the collection even beats that of Definitely Maybe, a success for Oasis when it was released in 1994. “The musicians are better, without a doubt. I’m singing as well as I ever have. And I think the tune are just as good as Definitely Maybe, if not better. It’s up there, no question. It’s a top f**king debut album, regardless of Oasis,” Liam said.

Just cause The Beatles don't make music anymore doesn't mean there's a lack of 'rock 'n' roll' bands, Liam. Arctic Monkeys, anyone?

aye, but hiphop/rap is so fucking popular with kids these days, over here it's like 80/20 the rap/rock ratio (almost like a limp bizkit album then lol)
i guess rock will be "cool" again at some point, but it will take time

nothing, but it's not like they're magically gonna start to listen to rock-music when they turn 20 There was one song on the Billboard Top 100 all year that is "classified" as "rock". Train's abominable "Hey, Soul Sister". There clearly is a lack of rock bands, at least in regards to popular consciousness.
