Think of the WARMTH.  FFS, how much would you gain, at best, with a top end system? 3%? 4? If a song is shit, it's shit. If it's great, it's great. Just put it onto iTunes like everyone else and stop pissing about. I'm not against the concept of vinyl release, just when it's the only format it's released on. |

the thing is, people aren't talking in numbers. vinyls on a good system are in every single conceivable way more satisfying than a cd.
downloads and vinyls are the only current formats with any sort of future.

In all seriousness, release it on download! Don't have an issue with vinyl, only when it's exclusive. It took the best part of a month before someone with some technical capability managed to get a needledrop of Sons of the Stage online which actually sounds as good as people say it should sound.

might be a way to combat piracy? What? How many of these things are they hoping to sell? The download of The Roller is only available on a Thursday - they don't care about chart positions. The one thing they hope to sell in numbers - the album, will be available on CD and download. And, finally, people like me are unable to buy the single as they have nothing to play it on, so are forced into piracy to hear the song. Thus causing a loss in sales, although I imagine this will be another limited edition release which will sell out, usually to greedy people buying a dozen to sell on eBay. So, in conclusion, NO. Or, if you're right, a stupid commercial decision. |

vinyl is the fastest growing physical music format and i like the great baz will never buy a cd again. i've stayed away from purchasing previous beady eye releases though but i may splurge for the roller.

Artwork is great, video looks cool. I don't think we can accurately judge the song based on a single frame from the video, but it is interesting to see that arrangement of instruments. Andy on guitar and gem on piano plus new guy on bass is pretty cool. I want that BDI piano!
Who is the new guy, anyway?

As far as the vinyl thing goes, I've got to agree that records are great. The artwork is better, they sound awesome, there's a whole ritual to playing an album... get that, you play an ALBUM or at least a side, you're not bouncing between thirty seconds of random tracks. The A.D.D. of modern music listeners KILLS me sometimes. Bottom line, vinyl is the shit. But I can also totally see where monobrow is coming from.
