I watched season 4 in a day too I don't work with Andy though, I was just avoiding revision nice. i think the most i've done was list 5 episodes in a row or something. i'd love to re-edit each series into five 12 hour films though. that'll go alongside turning Stephen King's IT into a horror version of Stand By Me by cutting out all the bits where they're adults in the list of video projects that i'll never, ever get around to doing.

SPOILERS THROUGHOUT, OBVIOUSLY thing is, the wire is the kind of show where you can't really say "total don" or "complete melt" about anyone, imo. pretty much every major character in the show says and does things that make you question their character one way or another. there are maybe a couple of characters that are bad through and through, but i can't think of anyone who's presented as a hero throughout (maybe butchie but he's only a small character really). with frank it's the same. he had multiple loyalties, to his union, his family and, absolutely, to himself. i don't buy the grass thing because he never had any real loyalty to the greek or vondas anyway, they both needed each other for purely selfish reasons. but then i do agree with the stubborn comment, throughout the series he often tried to do the "honorable" thing and take the whole load himself when sharing the weight might've been better for everyone. in fact his biggest mistake was involving his family in the first place, making nick his right hand man rather than one of the more experienced stevedores. then he goes back to the greek to try and save ziggy when sticking with the police might've been the smart thing to do at that point. but to be honest he was in a pretty much untenable position by that point anyway. so yeah, not a clear-cut character either way. i think he genuinely cared about his family and his union, but had definite character flaws that caused him to make a lot of dumb mistakes in trying to show that care. clearly not a romanticised "working class hero" type because there's no place in the wire for characters like that. although to cut the guy one last piece of slack, he was at least partly manoeuvered into the whole mess because of valchek's petty feud that started the whole detail in the first place. top character, imo. Great post 8Track. It's good to see you can see there is an angle for seeing him as a boring melt villian who needed to get got rather than posting insults and facepalms and then backing it up without any kind of argument. I won't name and shame those people, they know who they are (Ana Gonzalez, Big Bad Bazza and Yatesy). Cheese is a don though

THE WIRE SEASON THREE
CONTAINS SPOILERS You may notice Slippy asked what else could Frank Zabisko do on the the last page. CHANGE. LEAVE THE FUCKING GAME. I didn't wanna say this cause they were obviously exploring this with Cutty and Colvin and I expected Cutty to atleast get fucked up. CUTTY GOT OUT ALIVE Don. Colvin introducing Hamsterdam dicks all over that shit on the docks which was predictable cliche'd shit. Creating a drug free believable Hamsterdam was generally fresh and riskty writing (no idea if this was based on anything in the real or fictional world but no doubt has been lots of shit written on what a drug free state would be like but still....) Fave series so far despite it taking a while to pick up as there wasn't so much of a focused case this time. Also nice to see Marlo contiuning the tradition of actors who can't act for shit in this show. Hope he gets got soon. 8Track, if you want to discuss any part of the series then feel free to get involved. Gonna give it a few days now before I get on series 4 Can't imagine The Wire without Stringer Bell and sort of expect Avon to disappear now, No more Omar vs Banksdale either. Exciting shit to see where it goes.

I'm now half way through Season 4 Seven episodes in two days I might have to go back on my statement that The Sorpranos is better. I think I'm going to watch all of those immediately after to make a fair comparison. Snoop & Chris
