It's just practice mate. What I found helps is putting your finger across all the strings and making sure all the notes ring out - then add the E/A shape and do the same, then just practice moving between shapes. You soon get it.

Karl, drop the low E string to a D so you're tune like this: DADGBE, then all you have to do is play the top 3 strings to get that POWER CHORD sound:
Brad, do you mean this one: DADGBD? I use that too and have a few songs written in it, I call it the Neil Young D Modal

Yeah! I love the sound of the chord in that tuning if you just play a regular E, fuck knows what its called but with the dropped D's it sounds lovely

ha I'll give it a go, the magic thumb technique could well be the one for me. If its good enough for Hendrix, Coxon & krburg, it's good enough for Karl Mahoney

Picking Up The Pieces is one of the best forum tunes i've ever heard. Love the opening track, too. Really makes one think about his own mortality, what what. Going in my tunes of the year playlist
Brave change in direction with Who's That Knocking On My Door. Did you ever find out, btw?
Is that Guiness80 on Lord Don't Take Me Away? Sultry, innit
Yep, another really good record Karlo. Very surprised and impressed with your sudden songwriiting talent. You're like a younger, more likeable Billy Bragg, and i bet you wouldn't mind the Manics having their own toilet as much either

haha thanks for listening. It was Balldog at the door, needed a fresh pair of pants.
You not that keen on Billy Bragg? As time goes on I've grown to love him more & more. One of the few people on earth than can fight the good fight in public constantly without me thinking they are a complete cunt.
I've started on the next project now which again is a concept LP Given myself until the week of glastonbury as a cut off point so if I've enough it'll be an album otherwise another EP. It will most probably be 50% proper songs and 50% my usual weird ideas.
It'll my best record since the last one.

The Murderer?
Going to try an put a few 'lo-fi' tracks down when I get back to Sheffield. If it works for Tucker and Karl, it can work for me

That's right Brad.
Tracks so far include. She's A Psycho, Confessions Of A K-9 Killer, (I Wanna Be) A Serial Killer, Jim Jones Is Preaching In My Church plus a reciting of a Billy Childish poem entitled I Understand Murder.
I've another song I need to finish the lyrics for as well. Hope I can get 10 tracks together for an album otherwise it will just be another EP.
