'If I Had A Gun' US radio play on 13 September

I think this is a 9/10 song. Better than Wonderwall, IMO.

Probably as good as Wonderwall and some other big Oasis tunes.
Time will tell if it´s one of the big golden ones (Masterplan, Don´t look back in anger, Whatever), but it´s near.

I'm only gonna give it 9/10.

For a 10/10 it needs:

1) Strings in the chorus
2) To be a bit slower
3) "Forgive me if.." instead of "Excuse me.." in the chorus
4) Perhaps a choir in the "Ahhh" bits after the "undone a the seems" moment.

You know, I've thought a bit about the whole "forgive me/excuse me" thing, and while it really is only a minor issue, I have come to the following conclusion:
Generally, forgive me sounds better to me. However, I fell that this new, electric version of the song displays quite a different emotion, mainly in the beginning of the chorus. If taken an emotional plead to a lover, the "excuse me" line has elements of a desperate, slightly sarcastic frustration, like getting angry at your beloved for her not getting just how much you care.
The sound check version's "forgive me" line fits well because, in acoustic form, the song is more of a hopeful and forgiving cry.

I may have been thinking to much, but I'm just completely charmed by this song.
