5.5/10 What an overrated film. Thought I was going to see something as good as Kick Ass but was highly disappointed. So fuckin random I didnt know what the fuck I was watching. And I fuckin can't stand Michael Cera. When will he stop acting like Michael Cera??

Yeah, I didn't rate Scott Pilgrim that highly either. But then again, I wasn't sold on Kick-Ass. They're about equal in my book - seen 'em once, no need to see 'em again.
(500) Days of Summer.
I'd give it a 6.5/10. Well directed. Decent script. Great performance from JG Levitt. Pretty girl (with pretty voice).
Where does it lose marks?
Some poorly placed moments of crudity and a really annoying female character.

Persepolis [2007] Been wanting to see this since it's release after all the glowing reviews & finally got around to it but struggled with it tbh. It just felt like one big history lesson. The opening half hour just hit you with fact after fact with no time to grow any emotional investment in any character. Things improved after this but despite the hardships the young girl had to go through I never once felt attached to the story enough to care what was happening to her. The whole thing left me feeling a little cold. 5.5 Also, rewatched Terminator 2 - 9.25

Persepolis is extremely overrated; if it had been about some girl in Bolivia no one would've cared.

Yeah I think now I've seen it it feels to me like people have probably overpraised it for it's subject content rather than it's artistic merit. It should of been a simple tale of a girls struggle who happened to be from Iran but it felt to me like I was being given the history of Iran with sub content about a girl. It's cool that a location that is rarely ever used has made it into a film but at the same time I can't help but get the feeling that this is the major reason people are rushing to throw their praise all over it. For me it wasn't that interesting. Smokey & The Bandit [1977] Big fan of 70's car movies, this was fun though lacked a little punch & the final 20 minutes was a little anti-climatic but still an enjoyable viewing. 6.25

Do we do TV in here too? Dexter Season 5 I'm still shaking from how awesome Season 4 was now tbh, but so were the writers by the looks of it, felt clumsier than it has been before (plot strands simply dying out, odd shifts of focus, some big(ger) leaps of logic) but still sporadically conjured the Dexter magic (warehouse episode, Liddy storyline). Left some potential strands to tug on for the next season I suppose, but I do so hate it when they push the 'reset' button so emphatically at the end of a season. Filler, by their standards. 6.5

the final 20 minutes was a little anti-climatic Ya they are really pushing to set up that second film.

It's ComplicatedI watched this due to my love for Alec Baldwin and Meryl Streep. Turns out they were the only reason that this was halfway-watchable. It's Complicated? Erm, no it isn't. Completely by-the-numbers, dull-as-feet romcom. And their kids were all wet, subservient cunts of the most unrealistic order. Rubbish. 4.2/10

From his older days, yet totally cool and funny as shit. rickard pryor- live n smokin 7/10. From his earlier days in a small NY club. It's not as funny as his later stuff, but it's a nice watch for the coolness of it. Eddie Izzard, Glorius. 8/10 I guess, some super funny shit. Other's not so funny and his tempo goes down from time to time. Still fucking funny.

Red Scorpion [1989] 2nd rate action/muscle movie. You could tell the budget was no way as high as it should of been from the action set pieces which were never very impressive though the major failure of the film was it's star. Whilst Dolph Lundgren makes a brilliant heel & completely looks the part to be the all action star he lacks the charisma of a Stallone, seagal or van damme. 4

Frankenhooker [1990] Shitloads of fun. Blokes mrs gets killed by a lawnmower so he hatches a plan to kill prostitutes to make his ideal women with the head of his mrs. Done by the same director as Basket Case which I also love. 7.25 Fist Of Fury [1972] Bruce Lee is fucking mesmorising to watch in this. Theres a couple of scenes that just knocked me for six. Though without Lee this one would probably be average/decent. Story is predictable & clunky & there probably isn't enough martial arts scenes in it as there should be though those scenes with Lee elevate this into a good film. 7 Tom Horn [1980] One of Steve Mcqueen's last films before he died. Apparently he was pretty ill on set & was coughing up blood most days. You can tell by his appearance, he doesn't look half the man he was just seven years before in Papillon so it's kinda of sad to watch though he still puts in a top performance. A good western, short, sweet & to the point. Surprised this one doesn't get mentioned very often, I can't see many faults with it. 8

Gran Torino [2008] Recorded this off sky ages ago but never got round to watching it, stuck it on this afternoon. Can't believe i waited so long to watch it, utterly compelling. I lost it BIG time at the end though, the tears were tripping me. 8/10
