it is, but the acting is so shit bar clint The boy is pretty useless but the rest of his family whilst not great are more than serviceable. Perhaps I just watch more bad films with bad acting that I'm used to see shoddy performances but I've heard many people say that Clint's neighbours ruin the film & I don't see much wrong with their performances. When Clint locks the boy in that store-room/garage thing he's hilariously bad but still I thought for the type of film that Gran Torino is the performances were fine. Stage Fright [1950] I really didn't like this one very much. felt at least 45 minutes longer than an hour 45. It all seemed a little predictable. Also, for a Hitchcock film there didn't seem to be anything that interesting visually & the plot seemed real clunky with scenes being shown which you find out didn't really happen which I'd have no problem with if it added anything to the story but for me on first viewing it didn't feel much more than average/decent 5.5 Cleopatra Jones [1973] Expected this one to be pretty shit but it was hugely entertaining. Some good action, some great lines & a really good car chase. Would probably make my top 5 of the genre from what I've seen so far. Hair's like a woman. You treat it good and it treats you good. You got to hold it, caress it, and love it. And if your hair gets out of line you take a scissor and say, "Hair I'm going to cut you." 7.75 If You Were Young:Rage [197] The films by Fukasaku have been a real mixed bag so far. Quite enjoyed this one, some real bad over-acting in places (though that is pretty typical in Asian cinema) & story was perhaps a little clunky midway through but apart from that a pretty solid film with a really well done downbeat ending. 6.5 Bird On A Wire [1974] This was fucking superb. Really got into Cohen over the past year or so & this documentary captures him at his prime. Some amazing performances & some amazing scenes of what went on during the tour. Off the top of my head this is the best 'tour' documentary I've seen & has made me fall in love with his songs even more. Such a shame I had to witness a bloated MOR version of him live a few years back but with this DVD I can forgive. 9

Just got back, so will write a better review later, but went to see that little indie flick, Tron:Legacy.
Erm..... it was alreet. Lovely effects, some great action sequences (but not enough, i thought), and it achieves pretty much all you'd want and expect, but, well, it's missing something. Something i can't quite put my finger on yet.
People have slagged off the de-aging effects used on Jeff Bridges in the film, but i thought it just about worked. Not as smooth and seamless as Benjamin Button, but it wasn't as jarring and distracting as i've heard. The eyes and mouths on these things still look a little monged, though.
The 3D ain't much cop really, either. All the bits outside the game-world are in 2D, which for some reason irritated me a bit. Especially as its being hyped up as this great, immersive 3D experience. Though in another way, it does make the entering into the game-world that little bit more exciting and eventful i guess.
Anyway, it's pretty decent. Well worth a watch, but doesn't quite hit the level i hoped for.

I expected a little bit more from the soundtrack and my guess is some of the Daft Punk songs were changed for boring orchestral themes because Disney though it could be too electronic for their likes. Shame. btw Olivia Wilde is a fucking 10/10

Was never a big fan of her, even in The OC with the lesbian kissing scenes. Her face appears to gravitate towards the end of her nose, or something.

Black Shampoo [1976] This was shit Had been told it was one of the better ones but it really wasn't what I was expecting. Black Shampoo fucks 4 women within the first 20 minutes, he works as a hairdresser with a bunch of homosexuals & throws no more than a couple of punches during the whole film then at the end theres two slasher style killings that are completely out of sync with the rest of the picture which feel so fucking odd. Some of the worst acting I've ever seen still yet it kept me entertained. 5.25

Scarface [1983] First time I'd seen this start to finish. Had tried it a few times over the years but was always on TV kind of late so was a struggle to get through then I'd seen the last ten minutes many times. Really loved it, I know many seem to think it's overrated mostly due to how iconic the back end of the film is but for me it's a wonderful simple story of one mans greed & inability to realise what is really important in his life. 9.25

Taken, with Liam Neeson and the annoying blonde bitch from Lost's season 1...I heard everyone say how 'awesome' it is, but it seemed like your typical, run-of-the-mill, automatic Hollywood action script kinda film. 5/10

Used to wind me right up, the abuse that film got on here One of my absolute favourites, no question. Watched the 1951 The Day The Earth Stood Still. First time i'd seen it, and really enjoyed it. It's 90 minutes, yet flew by, and felt like half that, so that was nice too.
