I used this site a lot before i first ventured into your country anyway... Duck Soup One of my favourite comedies of all time, remains thus. Sure some of it has dated but it's roundhouse charm blows through that. I can't stop giggling all the way through and it is consistently inspired. You can spot so many points which other comedies have ripped off. Slapstick, satire and sticking it to the Man in the most childishly brilliant of ways. Whilst the other Marx Bros are hilarious, Groucho was a towering genius, decades ahead of his time. Fucking classic. 9.0/10

#011 Small Time [1996] Shane Meadows first film. Extremely low budget piece made mostly to show off what Meadows could do. Isn't great, poor acting from mostly non actors lets it down but almost all the themes are in place for what Meadows would continue let dominate his films. 5.75 #012 Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid [1969] First time seeing this. Really good though I felt the momentum died a little bit when they got to Bolivia. Maybe ever so slightly disappointed in that it's seen as one of the alltime great films & it didn't live up to that for me but still a very good film with some top performances. 8 #013 Death Line [1972] Give this a go after seeing JP liked it. Didn't enjoy it quite as much as him but it was a decent watch. Donald Pleasence is such an arsehole in it The build up was good but they just didn't do enough with what lived in the underground for my liking. Christopher Lee's cameo with the fakest mustache I've ever seen was quite amusing though 6 $014 Il coltello di ghiaccio [Knife of Ice] [1972] Really uneventful Giallo. Plodded along, not much happened & when it did there was never any excitement in what was happening. I've seen worse but it felt such a wasted opportunity. 5

[013] Things to Do in Denver When You're DeadSaw it, enjoyed it, thought Steve Buscemi is the coolest shit ever as usual, that girl from the teen witches film is awesome too (Fairuza Balk??) (I think Ringo fancied her).. The title definitely makes this film seem way cooler than it actually is. But, alas, any film with Steve Buscemi and Christopher Walken gets a 6 by default, and I'm giving it a 7/10 cause it was harmless fun with enough action to keep me satisfied.

LOVE Butch Cassidy. Iconic ending, innit Bought a 4 film John Wayne boxset earlier, and started with 3: True Grit (1969) Just great. I've made it a new year's resolution to get round to all yer western classics, and what a great way to start. I prefer me some Clint, but The Duke is magic. Glen Campbell and the young girl are great too. Looking forward to the Coens version now

I've never ever been able to sit through a Western, especially ones with John Wayne in them, have just never been my thing, I think it was because I was traumatised as a child by my grandparents as it was ALL they watched, but even the considered classic Spaghetti Westerns have never taken my fancy, i'm sure i'm massivly missing out so i'll definitly take a plump with some of the 'biggies' this year..

When you say the classic spaghetti westerns haven't taken your fancy do you mean you have seen some & wasn't keen or you've just never fancied them? If so I really recommend checking out Once Upon A Time In The West, it has much more depth to it than the usual Spaghetti Western & for my money is one of the most perfect films I've ever seen. Seen quite a few Spaghetti Western's but like Dan never spent much time on the old Westerns though I watched Rio Bravo recently & that blew me away as well. Got true grit on DVD so will be watching that soon. #015 Four Lions [2010] Really don't understand the love for this one. I think many have been sold by it's 'political edge', big deal the humour was absolutely terrible at times. Felt like an extended TV program, very very average 5

I used to see lots of westerns when I was a child, always loved them to bits but don't remember most of them. They brought me lots of funny afternoons playing with my playmobils and the fort

The thing about traditional Westerns was that at one point in time a third of all films made in America were Westerns. They became cheaper productions & therefor the quality deteriorated so for every great Western you'd have 20 that were a waste of time. For most people our age they were the dull films that your grandad watched when you went over his house. It doesn't help how black & white the stories were, good vs bad with almost everyone telling the same tale again. The Spaghetti Western destroyed that by having characters that were grey, neither good or bad. If you watch something like the good, the bad & the ugly had you not been told their names it wouldn't be crystal clear who was who as even Eastwoods character is a bit of a bastard at times. I forget to mention, the opening non dialogue 20 minute scene at the start of Once Upon A Time In The West is the greatest piece of cinema I have ever seen.

When You're Strange - 2009 This is a documentary about the life of The Doors narrated by Johnny Depp. It has never before seen footage of some live stuff, some hanging out stuff, and Jim's films. I've always been a fan of The Doors and found this to a very fun and informative watch. 8/10

[014] Iron Man 2I had heard somewhere that this film was a total flop quality wise but I thought it was just as fun and exciting as the first one tbh. Mickey Rourke is fucking flawless, love him. I'd say the only thing I didn't like about this film was Scarlett Johansson's SallyC-like red curls. They look amazing on Sally but they looked like shit on ex Mrs. Reynolds, dunno, put me off a bit, she was too stiff for an action lady. Maybe that was the point but I thought she wasn't that right for the part. Still sexy as fuck though. Anyway I love Tony Stark, I want to shake his hand and touch his mustache. Oh, and it's an absolute shame that Jon Favreau isn't going to be behind the 3rd installment, quite a shame. 7.5/10

^ agreed about Iron Man 2. I can see the various faults people point out, but i really enjoyed it, me. Yeah, i'm not an expert in westerns at all, but i've loved these out of the few i've seen Tombstone Unforgiven True Grit A Fistful Of Dollars Bring Me The Head Of Alfredo Garcia The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly The Quick and The Dead The Three Burials Of Maauaiauaathauaia Biaaosaaah (sic?)
Ordered a few more "classics" last night, as i've not enjoyed watching a film as much as i did with True Grit last night in a while. Loved every minute

You see Jon Favreau has dropped out of the third? Quite surprising. I hate all that crowbarred-in Avengers shit, though. Oh look, it's Captain America's sheild! Let's wank. Does anyone outside america give the tiniest fuck about Captain America? Or Thor? Or The Green Lantern/Hornet? So many shit superheroes getting films now Tbh, i only like Spider-Man, Iron Man and Batman. Everyone else is a tit.

what about the X-Men? They were always my favorite. (not the films though, for films I'd go with Spidey tbh)
