Picked up some cheap shit at the bootfair this morning Springsteen - The River Kate Bush - Lionheart Kate Bush - The Kick Inside Stone Roses - Fools Gold 12 inch Jungle Brothers - Straight Out the Jungle Charlie Parker - Yardbird Bobby Womack - So Many Rivers Roberta Flack - Killing Me Softly Nancy Sinatra - Greatest Hits (With a Little Help from Her Friends) Not bad for £8 quid. Probably made a mistake with the Bobby Womack record though as its from '85 so I'd imagine it's a bit crap. Best of all though was my birthday present. My bird surprised me and had a one off vinyl record pressed up of my music. It's so sexy & after hearing it on vinyl I have come to the realisation that Rolling Thunder is one of the greatest songs written by anybody ever.

I think to sum up this thread. Vinyl, a beautiful thing to look at with great sound but more trouble than it's worth. In an ideal world I'd have everything on those beautiful slabs but it's just not possible so fuck it. 320birate shall do me forever. Yeah, pretty much sums up my feelings. I enjoy owning a fair few rare records and do still buy the odd LP that takes my fancy. But I always think that unless you're a DJ, why bother buying so much of it. Buying old stuff is great because you can do it cheaply. But getting new stuff is a nightmare. Persnally, I don't want to restrict what I listen to because of a lack of spare cash and storage space. I must have listened to 30+ new albums this year more than once. I wouldn't have if I chose to buy them on vinyl. This is the 21st century, we're blessed with FLAC, so let's take advantage.

Yeah fuck buying new vinyl. The new Laura Marling & Primal Scream records I both quite fancy getting but they are near £25 a pop. Don't mind picking up the odd bit second hand for a quid each but fuck paying top dollar for new records unless its BDI & signed by Andy Bell.

£25?! fucking hell, I had no idea they charged so much. is that standard or just because they are limited edition gatefold vinyl bollocks?

standard as far as I know, though both are double LP's but either way, I'm never going to spend £100 on 4 records I want a 100 for that!

there's a new record shop opened in norwich recently that only stocks new vinyl at £25 quid a pop. just seems like a death wish to do that in these times. i give it until christmas before it is closed and the owner has killed themself.

Collector's item there Mahoney. Bought the new PS, had to wait for a month and then they said it got lost in the mail and they sent me a new one. So if that's true the jokes not just on me but on them too. Also, I don't even like it that much any more, it's hardly vanishing point is it.

Been browsing through the alleged record store day releases but there's not that much going on this year. There's a Neon Neon EP and a BJM split and some Lemonheads double lp with bonus tracks which might be something, but nothing particularly great. Oh, and the twelve inch of Supersonic will be released as well, with, I imagine, extra remaster aids.

I'll buy that 7" box set thing that Spiritualized are on to keep for myself, bar that anything else I buy it'll be to flip on eBay for some profit.

Neil's putting out the ditch trilogy (and one other one, I think) on vinyl, including time fades away...I'll be getting that.

Ps where did your missus get that vinyl pressed? Would love to do a 7" for my next club night. I'll ask her when she gets home. Though I think it was pretty expensive. Ton, what Lemonheads record is it? Continued my tradition of picking up some of my favourite records of each year around christmas and got Melt Yourself Down, Connections & Laura Marling. Also got one of my not-so favourite records with the signed Beady Eye vinyl. Apart from that I've not bought anything since last time I posted.

Sorry, I didn't spot the Spiritualized one, that looks pretty good. Neil Young I imagine is gonna be very expensive?
You guys actually turn up first thing in the morning? Cos I just send them my list and they'll keep the stuff apart.
Karl: It's called "If Only You Were Dead (bonus tracks from recent reissues) (2LP)" - whatever those are? I think Varshons is the last album I listened to. What reissues? But Lemonheads is always at least decent so yeah.
Some recent buys ova here:
- Aufheben by BJM, average album but the album art and vinyls are spectacular. Lovely release. - All Temples' releases bar the first single. Hoping they'll increase in value cos they already bore the shit out of me. - Early pressing of East of the River Nile by Augustus Pablo; good find - Lee Hazlewood's Love and Other Crimes (already had it, but I couldn't leave it since it was only 10 euro). Thinking of making a Lee Hazlewood shrine out of it combined with my mustache hair

I've this old system that I got a new amplifier for(or what's it called? the thing between the boxes and the speakers), but the difference with that and my shitty portable player, when I both play them through my speakers, is not that big at all. But I'm clueless to all of this.

Car Button Cloth was recently re-issued though so have the first three Lemonheads records (that are lo-fi punk & mostly a bit shit). I'd guess that it is probably from the early era so I'm not too interested. Would have picked up a re-issue of Ray (THE GREATEST ALBUM OF ALL-TIME) though I'm sure I'll come across a clean copy of an original on the cheap one day anyway.
Love & Other Crimes is the only other Hazlewood record I'm after. It's strange how much I love Hazlewood, so many great songs yet there's only 4 or 5 records that I love start to finish with that being one of them.
