I read 'could have played for a big club' at the headline tbh. My point was that PSG has never been bigger than Liverpool during Gerrard's career, until now.

No player in history has ever scored four goals against england. Sure, it was a friendly. But take that english press... And wow, what a boring team we would be without him.

I called the overhead as soon as Hart headed it. Did you put a bet on it? Nope, I had over 2.5 goals though. Nailed on.

England vs Brazil tonight. Got me thinking about what team I would like us to go into the world cup with. Sterling --- Rooney --- Wallcott Willshere--Carrick---Cleverlley Cole --- Cahill----Jagielka---Johnson -------------Hart------------------- The defence basically picks itself (although Baines is pushing Cole hard). In midfield I know cleverlley's a bit raw but I think it's the way we need to go. I feel that Cleverlley and Willshire could work really well together as they are both ok with receiving the ball in tight situations moving it quickly and demanding it back again. Players like Lampard and Gerrad tend to shy away from the ball when they'e tightly marked. We need to develop a bit more of a 'give and go' style of football, L & G tend to give and stand still a bit too much. Yeah Gerrad's had an excellent last 12 months in an England shirt but he's getting on now and we need to build for the future. Brazil is a tournement no one expects us to get anything from so why not sacrifice some of the seniors and go in with something new. Carrick is my man to anchor the midfield, he's been in great form for United and is younger than Lamps and Gerrad but still with enough experience to keep Willshire and Cleverlley in check, his long range passing has been awesome this season and I can just imagine him pinging epic balls over the top for Wallcott / Sterling when we're counter attacking. One of the lessons of the euro's was that we should put the right players in the right formation. England (apart from Rooney) do not have good central strikers. Carrol is just a battering ram to be used when plan A,B & C fail, Wellbeck isn't international class yet, Defoe is decent but encourages the use of traditional 4-4-2 which we should try to move away from, Bent = , Sturridge could develop and is maybe competing for Sterling's place in my team. So let's only pick one central striker with Wallcott and Sterling supporting from inside forward roles. Hopefully over time Wallcott and Sterling develop their game and understanding enough to be able to interchange freely throughout the front 3, with Rooney even dropping into midfield occasionally to leave gaps for their pace to exploit. That team if stuck with and coached to play proper passing, attacking, football would over the next 4 years would become awesome.
