There first album is one of my all time favourites Been listening to this quite a bit the past week, good stuff. cheers for the recommendation.

just spent the last hour or so compiling my top 20 gigs of the year list with a few sentences for each and everything. reckon its pretty much done now as i only have a handful of gigs left for this year and i dont think any of them will threaten the list.
i was a letdown last year putting no effort into this. im properly feeling music again at the moment so will have maximum effort this year.

Not bothering to write a description about each of the albums in my list, but i'll deffo do another top 50 albums this year.
Wish i'd been too more gigs though, it's so fucking expensive to go and see bands now though, think i've only been to about 10 gigs this year :-(

Same Stocky. Been to more than 10 but I've really cut down lately. Mostly because I'm getting lazy but the price of tickets, travel & booze puts me off seeing the sort of bands I'd of not thought twice about seeing a few years ago.

For me it's just the money rather than my inherent laziness. Manchester's not a massive place and living right in the middle means i'm only ever a 5/10 min walk from all the venue's. Ticket prices for smaller bands in the smaller venues are pretty much spot on but there's no fucking way i'll pay to see big band anymore. £75 for Radiohead in a soulless arena? Jog on. I love Radiohead but that's a joke. I think my days of seeing bands in theatre and arena sized venues are over. I'll have to get my fix of bigger bands from festivals. Maybe i'm being an old cunt and over romanticising the past but weren't the Oasis tickets for Finsbury park like £20 or something? I know it was a decade ago (FUCK) but 20 buff for Oasis, Charlatans, BRMC & The Coral... that's awesome! Bring back those days.

They were £32.50 actually but yeah I've just payed almost double for a roses ticket 10 years later. 8-10 beers for the day, something to eat and the train means that gig alone will cost me well over £120 quid for the day. I wonder what Tobe makes of the situation?

10 years ago "big" bands were still making money from record sales. now they all have to bump the ticket prices so they can live the life they've become acusstomed to. It's a crock of shit though. I'm with Stocky, with the exception of the Roses outdoor shows, I'll stick to festivals to see larger acts.
My problem with gigs these days is more persuading people to go with me. ("that's because you're a cunt Chrissie" LOLZ) Now that nearly all my pals are in full-time work, convincing them to give up a Tuesday night to go see an unsigned Glasgow shoegazing band can be difficult. Last week I had a pair free tickets to see Ariel Pink, and I literally couldn't give the other one away. One of my mates cancelled on me an hour before "I'm too tired after work, man". Half the time, unless a gig is on a Friday or Saturday night, I just write it off, unless I'm going to review it and it won't cost me anything anyway.

Festivals are shit as well. The whole thing is killing itself because only the squares can afford to go to regular gigs and convince themselves they are having a good time. It's no wonder the youth of today are going raving instead for a cheaper night and one that lasts 4 times as long.

Just sack all those gigs off completely. I go to two or three gigs aweek, I reckon I've paid over twenty quid once all year.

It's a fucking travesty.
