I don't like Slaughterhouse. It's not that I don't like the rawness of it, I just don't think he had the tunes to be doing it with. Jason Lytle's record is a mixed back for me but half of it is really good. John Cale's starts great, I wanna talk to you & Scotland Yard are fantastic then it kind of goes downhill. Not sure why he had to use the Cher-like vocal effects on everything.

Any interest in The Datsuns? They've got a new one out, just about to give it a spin. Really liked their debut (can hardly believe it was 10 years ago!) but never really listened to much by them since.
Anyway, it's on exystence if anyone gives a shit.

My old flatmate and The Wynd's original basis, Martin, used to regularly tell me The Datsuns were better than The Strokes. What was even better was that he managed to say it with a straight face.

See, that's just fucking stupid. How can you even compare the 2? It's like comparing Black Sabbath to The Beatles; two completely different beasts.

Anyone heard a record by some chap called Kendrick Lamar? Not a huge rap fan but really liking this. Really good production with a nice 90's vibe about it.

Got R.A.P Music on now by Killer Mike. Some big beats and again, great production.

Listening to that Up The Bracket tribute album by the NME. What's the point in picking up a bunch of mediocre indie acts that couldn't care less about the Libertines? It's not a homage when you pull out every reason why those songs were special. I remember hearing a similar compilation for Is This It and some of the bands had never listened to the album before being asked to do the cover.

You still listened though didn't you I really love the new Crazy Horse album. It's not perfect, theres some shocking lyrics (Neil singing about hating mp3's & 'gonna get me a hip-hop haircut' ) & theres some filler on there. 3 of the 8 tracks I'm not really sold on but when it hits the sweet spot it really is wonderful. Personally I'd of had this tracklisting: 01: Walk Like A Giant 02: Psychedelic Pill (alternative Mix) 03: Ramada Inn 04: She's Always Dancing 05: Driftin' Back Which despite being only five tracks is well over the hour mark You can't beat that Crazy Horse sound especially when Neil's guitar sounds completely filthy. The solo towards the end of Psychedelic Pill is a proper fist in the air moment. I can't believe anybody on earth would want to listen to that shit Bob Dylan released this year when they could be listening to Crazy Horse.
