Listening now. This band isn't for me, I really don't get the appeal. Everything is just so plodding. Seems they've gained more knack for a melody than on the first record but still this doesn't interest me.

I probably like this one better than the debut.

really really really enjoying it on first couple of listens- have a feeling there's plenty beneath the surface still to come too

It is shaping to be my choice for album of the year right now, but I can understand why some people would find it hard to digest.

The debut did absolutely nothing for me. Quite liked this one on a single listen. Well worth another listen I'd say, whereas the debut bored me to tears and had very little substance, Lonerism was a little bit more interesting

New Ty Segall is sounding very pleasant on first listen.

Jim Jones Revue have a new one out, mostly prescindable but slightly different. Makes me wonder if a combination of their usual rock'n'roll by numbers songs and these new slower but equally tense ones would actually form a worthy album.

There's another band that sounds a bit like them too. Sonic Avenues, they're called. Not bad but that style is quite dangerous, very close to sounding hysterically cheesy.

Also really loving the new Ty Segall record 'twins'. Has grown on me with each listen which is strange as it's quite straight forward garage-rock. Didn't like his Melted record & thought the LP with white fence was decent at best but think I'll revisit them now as this is really floating my boat, proper Stooges vibes.

Quite enjoyed Frankie Rose's Interstellar tbh. Good record that I've not really seen mentioned, no doubt may be a bit dull for some of proper indie heads though

Both the Tame Impala album and the GOAT album are fantastic, think they're right up there with the best I've heard this year.

Ty's latest is sweet indeed. Did you listen to Slaughterhouse by him and his band? Really dark and heavy but pretty tasty nevertheless. This ones probably a bit more accessible but it takes nothing away from it. Also really enjoying Jason Lytle's new solo album. First few listens, I wasn't entirely sold but it's magical. Some great moments, especially Your Final Setting Sun, great tune. Looking forward to spending some time with John Cale's latest, the lead track off it is really good so we'll see how the rest is. Been a good year, I reckon.
