Mercury prize list is indeed shit but then I had a go at making my own 10 nominations and I was really scraping the barrel with most artists being way into their careers which just goes to show what a state British music is in.
BTW, that Toy album is woeful. If SCUM were considered a second rate Horrors then Toy must be about a 17th rate.

I dont think we have the same record.
The TOY album I've heard is probably the dullest & devoid of any tunes record I've heard all year, a complete snoozefest

Tame Impala have stole the fucking show in 2012 with Lonerism. I don't see me enjoying an album more this year. What a band.

IS it different in sound to their first record? I wasn't a fan of the first one.

Do you know where I could find a list of albums of 2012 ? Excluding all the crap.

i quite like tame impala, although i went to see pond earlier this year and they basically ruined my ear drums. makes me sound like such an old cunt, but i fucking hate it when gigs are needlessly loud just for the sake of it

I'd say it's no big departure tbh. Although I'm also enjoying it a bit more than the debut, it might be more songy, more Beatlesque.

Two albums I've "picked up" this morning;
The UFO Club - The UFO Club Featuring one of The Black Angels and a fella from a band called Nights Beats. Psychedelic rock with a bit of 50's/60's vibe thrown in for good measure. The 2nd track on the album is a nice cover of arguably one of the greatest pop songs of a all time, The Ronettes’ classic 'Be My Baby'.
Melody's Echo Chamber This bird used to be (apparently) in a bands called The Narcoleptic Dancers and My Bee’s Garden. Not sure if this is a solo project or another band but it's some real good dream pop. It's produced by the lead singer from Tame Impala. Packed with great melodies that more often than not lead into some sort of psychedelia. Check oot 'I Follow You' for a snippet of what to expect.

Besides releasing a mediocre album this year, The Soundtrack Of Our Lives are splitting. Sad news, always thought I'd manage to see them live some year.
