To be fair, accounts suggest he texted tactics and ways to get Andrew Strauss out, to the opposition.
That's gonna take some apologising

The texts about tactics haven't been confirmed so far and understanding the ECB's attitude toward Pieterson they would have been using them to beat him with by now.
The ECB just don't like and some of the players don't, its a personal thing. The ECB claim to be protecting test cricket and yet only play 3 tests against South Africa in a summer where we have 5 pointless ODI's against the Aussies.
KP wanted to not play the 2 tests against New Zealand at the start of next summer so he could fulfill his IPL contract. These 2 tests will be meaningless anyway as NZ (a poor side) will be even poorer because guess what? Yep, their stars will be playing in the IPL. I'm not a fan of the IPL but the ECB need to recognise that it seems here to stay.
I have no doubt that KP has an ego and is difficult to manage but he's been pilloried for things others haven't. Cook and Strauss both allowed to play ODI without making themselves avaliable for 20/20. Being reprimanded for indiscretions supposedly affecting team spirit. Graham Swann was not for his book which openly criticised KP. Again the ECB leaking information about the meetings they've had and sacking him as captain by phone when he was in a different country, has there been any internal inquiry covering these issues? Of course not.
The players also don't like he's the one the IPL want, quite a few in the team put there names in the hat but weren't picked up.
I think they just need to man up a bit, they don't have to be all be friends to win games. He's our best player by some distance and should be in that team as soon as possible.

I feel that both Peiterson and the ECB have made big mistakes here but I also feel that Peitersons mistakes are much more serious.
As has been mentioned above the ECB have been guilty of managing him badly and leaking private information from meetings. This should be investigated but the ECB is a big organisation and sadly I would imagine that it’ll be difficult to find the culprit(s).
Peiterson’s mistakes are far more serious though. Hanging out with and messaging South African players is not a bad offence in itself, but to do it during a high intensity test match against them and insult the captain? That’s absolutely ridiculous, and given his isolated position within the England dressing room, it’s a completely bone-headed thing to do.
Now, he’s apologised and that’s great, but the way he apologised, through a fucking youtube video posted in late one evening without as little as consulting the ECB (his bosses!) that’s insane. All he had to do was ring them up, apologise and maybe set up a joint press conference, instead he does the most egotistical thing possible and films an apology video from his home and posts it on the internet.
As for the IPL thing, I don’t blame him for wanting to play it but the ECB can’t just let players have time off England duty to go and play a domestic T20 tournament. It’s up the ICC to create a window in the international calendar for this, but they won’t because it’s a domestic tournament with the lion’s share of the revenue going to the Indian cricket board. If they did that, they would come under pressure from the Australians, South Africans etc etc to create a window for there domestic tournaments and if that happened the whole international game would fall to bits.
Why give Peiterson special treatment to play in the IPL and not give it to others? You can’t because it would just create jealousy in the team.
It’s also got to be considered that last year the guy signed a 12 month contract which made him available for all England games with no mention of special dispensation to play IPL. If IPL was such an issue for him, he shouldn’t have signed it. You can’t go changing the terms of a contract mid way through.
The ECB have acted like idiots but Peiterson has been far worse, hence the apology. It’s very sad but I doubt he’ll ever play for England again.

To an extent this is what you get if you get people like Pietersen playing who arent actually English, the benefits outweigh the negatives but I guarantee had he grown up dreaming of playing for England he wouldnt have treated them with such disdain. And to be fair the rule is "i before e except after c" and Pietersen is a bit of a c, so maybe that caught you out

Yeah I thought he may have been picked for that one, from what I can pick up, it looks like he will be welcomeed back for the ODI's and then the tour of New Zealand (which I think may coincide slightly with the IPL, so will really test KP's loyalty) I think he'll play for England and be in form the smash the aussies about in the summer

Its becoming pretty clear there is some dressing room player power being exerted now and its thought the prime candidates are Swann, Broad and Anderson. Swann and Broad seem like genuine cunts.

Yeah of course, he was greedy, arrogant and more than a touch dim about the whole thing but he hasn't committed an unforgivable crime. He has committed himself to England's schedule, apologised and was in meetings late into Monday night attempting to resolve the situation, which leads me to think the aforementioned group have stamped there feet. The thing is not everyone in the England team has a problem with KP a number of them went to a Charity golf day with him the other week and Cook has clearly pushed these talks forward. www.espncricinfo.com/india-v-england-2012/content/current/story/582824.htmlBetter than anything I can say on it tbh.

As a cricket fan i'm disappointed he won't be there. After his apologies and meetings with the ecb to sort it out, I thought they might have found some common ground and included him but I can still fully understand why they haven't taken him.
I still think he needs to spend a bit of time out of the side on the naughty step as punishment. I think it'd piss the rest of the team off too much if he comes back in straight away.
Let's be clear here, it's not just those texts that are the problem. It's his constant moaning about wanting to play ipl, it's clearly rankled people in the dressing room and the management team for some time, on a personal level he doesn't seem to get along with the other players either add that too the fact that his stupidity turned England's summer into a circus and you can see why it's annoyed his team mates and I can see why the ecb don't want to welcome him back straight away.
It would be nice if we could leave him out of a tour to New Zealand or West Indies as an India away tour is pretty much the hardest thing around, pretty much no one has won a series in India except Australia pre their era ending 2005 ashes defeat.

I'm not a fan of the IPL personally but it doesn't appear to be going anywhere so the ECB should probably start modifying its stance. The fact is a lot of the England team have put there name in the hat for the IPL they just haven't been sold, James Anderson and Graeme Swann at the last auction for example (two that apparently have a problem with KP).
Scheduling two tests against New Zealand during the IPL is completely brainless and as England players do get picked up by the IPL the problem will only increase
How many Test's would Boycott have played if dropped for causing disharmony in the dressing room?
