Fear not internet friends, I will sort this out tomorrow (as in later today) and come up with a crunchy album you can all lose interest in after the intro of the first song. Also: apologies.
kind regards, ton

Denim - Back in Denim (1993)Welcome to my post. This is an obvious pick for me since it's one of my favourite artists (Lawrence Hayward, previously of Felt) and I think many of you might not be familiar with the band/album. If you like Pulp it should be an easy 2* stars on RYM, or if you're an Eddie Murphy you can just enjoy the big riffs and classic rocking and pretend it's a sort of alrightish, mediocre Steely Dan. Either way, this is my pick and I'm looking forward to the reactions. Can't really say much about an album I love so much, other than that it balances perfectly on seriousness and unseriousness. Which is something I greatly appreciate in music. ps. The second album is equally as good and it's called Denim On Ice. Pm I for a turtle link? Or how should that be done?

Was thinking about doing a Felt album but I figured deciding for something ridiculous would probably suit this forum better. Oh, and I've just pm'ed everyone the link, except Johnny - who I couldn't find? Superjohnny, right? So Johnny, if you happen to read this, here's the link for you: we.tl/siZTfQsWdZ

Downloading it exactly right now, very little left to complete the download, open it and listen to it in my headphones and then save my judgement until a future second listen

Meant to stick that Denim album on me phone before I came to work today but got distracted by Footy Manager.

Time for reviews or something innit? You can do, people have until October 2nd to post their thoughts. I'll probably do it nearer the time so I've longer to spend with the record.

I'll post mine this weekend, but I think this should be more a give and take instead of just giving a late review for the sake of it. The exchange could preserve this from death, but I guess I'm asking too much

You never deliver, SRK. Anyways, here's my review.
From the first listen it sounded quite promising, I might say. No hidden weapons, just straight and simple fun, somewhere between the homage and the parody. The key is that serious vs unserious vibe Ton said combined with a seen-it-all attittude and a goofy 70s rock sound which fits like a glove. In fact, he makes it easier to achieve than what it actually is, because there's a fine line between success and disaster in these things.
That and mocking the 80s so early on make me think it might even sound better today than it did back then. I'd describe it like a British and more focused Jonathan Richman, first record by King Tuff also came to mind. Also I'm pleased to say the long songs don't seem to drag, specially due to the BIG codas and sing-alongs. It's not without its flaws, but all and all I'm quite satisfied with this very first choice from the second incarnation of the club.
7.2/10

Denim - Back in Denim
I am a huge fan of Lawrence and I consider Felt to be one of my favourite bands. Or well, of the 80's at least. It was Ton who got me into them years ago, so belated thank you. I've known Denim for a while and Back in Denim is an album I really enjoy. Middle of the Road is a nice statement against all these wannabe rock n roll cockheads the world seems polluted with. Spector's wall knock it town, Jerry Lee run him out of town. In the vein of Morrissey I would say that 'some songs are better than others' but it's definitely a well deserved 4/5. Oh - even though I am a vegetarian - I am in the mood for fish and chips right now. Thank you Lawrence, you Go-Kart Mozart dick!

I had quite literally never heard of these guys before ton posted his pick a few weeks ago. I think I enjoy *the idea* of what they're trying to do (intentionally?) with the 70s/80s pastiche more than the execution of said idea. It's entirely acceptable as 45 minutes of entertainment, but I don't think it's something I'll be going back to many times after this. I enjoyed bubblehead as a weird mix of pulp and 'rush-hour soul' era supergrass, though.
5/10

Enjoyed this quite a bit over the past few weeks. I was surprised to find out that it was from '92, I always assumed they were from the height of Brit-pop, so I guess they were slightly ahead of their time with this. I dig how much fun they are having with the record, not just poking fun at stuff, but with the different styles they tackle. Fish & Chips wouldn't of sounded out of place on the first Kim Wilde record & I say that as a big compliment. Nothing on here blows me away, yet at the same time from the first time I heard it I knew I liked it, it's contagious shit. It helps that I like the type of bands that they are influenced by, yet it still sounds like a record of the 90s rather than something like The Stairs debut which came out around the same time, which was an obvious attempt to sound like they are from a bygone era. Looking at stuff that was released in the same year I doubt it'd rank near my favourites due to '92 being such a great year for music but either way this is a really fun record with hardly any low points which I'm glad I now know. 8/10
LOTS OF LITTLE OSMANDS... EVERYWHERE!
I guess I really should give Felt a proper go one of these days.
Tuckerman, your pick is on Thursday bro.
