Yeah I really like it, feels like a moodier older brother of wonderland. Haven't gotten around to the bonus EP and remixes yet but the record is real solid. Wouldn't say there are any classic moments, but the whole thing is real enjoyable.
They always make a good record after a death, BLUNT IS NEXT

I liked their first two albums enough...not sure I'd even thought about them once in 4-5 years, except when 'oh yeah!' would pop on my running playlist.

I gave the new album a try and turned it off after 3 tracks. I won't say it was terrible, just wasn't in the mood for that sort of thing.

Much like Karl & JP, The Charlatans album has also grown on me a lot over this last week.
It's been an incredibly strong start to the year and I'm already falling behind with stuff I want to listen to.

I rate the new Charlatans LP too, although it feels to me that it's got more in common with Burgess' last solo effort than any of their previous records. Saw them do an in-store in Rough Trade East a couple of weeks back and they all seemed fairly up for it, so I slightly regret not getting a ticket for the Roundhouse. I'm fairly sure they'll do another tour later in the year though.

I'm finding that Charlatans record a bit boring with a pair of great moments. Will give it more spins though.

I too am finding the Charlatans album dull. It's inoffensive as background music but nothing interesting enough to warrant further listens. Much better stuff doing the rounds.
The Natalie Prass album is delightful in a timeless pop sort of way.

Father John Misty's new album is a bit of alright It's rather lovely, isn't it. There's some nice moments & some odd ones too. The problem I have with him is his delivery, I find him a little too calculated for his own good. Hard to pin-point why, but with certain singer-songwriters I just feel what they are saying, with him it feels a little false. My favourite record so far is Collisions Vol. 4, a joint record by an Italian band called Mamuthones & Evil Blizzard. Very much Krautrock with a Psych groove to it. Awesome stuff Also Creases by Sink Tapes. Sort of jangle-pop, infectious shit along the lines of Pains, Lemonheads, Yuck & Teenage Fanclub. Can stream that here sinktapes.bandcamp.com/album/creasesOnly heard the new Public Service Broadcast LP once but it was crushingly disappointing. I adored their debut, this time despite the cool space concept musically it really falls short. Babu's new PervertsInSpeedo's EP is excellent, reminded me of early 90s house music in a good way. The Gaz Coombes LP is disappointing to me so far, some interesting production techniques but for the most part the songs don't seem interesting enough.
