fuck me, this album is, dare I say, brilliant! I also liked his debut but it was maybe a bit too safe and repititive somehow. This has more action and stronger more interesting arrangements. I can't also wait for those extra tunes, how many were there of them? I can only remember do the damage and revolution song?

Nice thread boys On first listen the album is... decent. I'm a bit tired of Noel right now but there's definitely some nice new sounds here (and also he's brought back some others that were missing lately), so hope it will grow on me and probably will. You Know We Can't Go Back is my favourite so far.

I have to question the placement of The Ballad of Might I; it doesn't really feel like an album closer to me.

I'd like to dedicate this review to all the lads on the forum. RivermanI've given it a chance and wanted to like but this is not a great song. There's a lot going on, with the solos and entry of the Sax being very good, but ultimately it's clunky and behind it does not lay a great tune. Probably the worst opener to an Oasis/Noel/Beady Eye album ever. When Clapham Common comes around, and the old badger starts this up, I'll be going to the bar. I'll probably do a bit of air guitar whilst I'm there though. In The Heat Of The MomentWe all know this isn't very good but it sounds better in the context of the album. The Girl With The X-Ray EyesI've pretty much skipping the first two tunes already which would suggest I like this song enough to start with it. I espcially like the 'She swallowed space and time' bit as Noel is singing with some real conviction. Ultimately this is a 47 year old man pretending to be David Bowie and I'm going to let everyone know that is the case at Clapham Common. Lock All The DoorsWe all know the chorus is great (LOCK ALL THE DOORS motherfuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucker!) and he just needed to write a decent tune around it and he couldn't. The opening lyric is cool but apart from that it's characterless. The 'dun a nun nun' bits are AIDS as well. All the lads are going to be getting right down at Clapham Common and shouting 'LOCK! ALL! THE! DOORS!' and it's going to mean nothing. If anything it's an anthem from grasses. Dying Of The LightSounds like a mid-90s Weller ballad. Shame, the demo is great. The Right StuffThis is no different from The Girl From The X-Ray Eyes, lads! He's just stealing whole heartedly from a more experimental genre. If rumour has it the majority of this was made by The Androgynous Ants and it sounds exactly like it. This is not experimenting, it's copying. It is admittedly quite good in parts. Like a tune playing during a skit on The Mighty Boosh. While The Song Remains The SameIt's Written in The Stars with other sounds directly nicked from Weller flowing over it. It's one of the better songs on the album and the Chasing Yesterdays bit is one, if not the only, prominent memorable lyric. It's like someone has said 'You wanna go modern Weller' and he's got very, very confused. I'll let all the lads know this at Clapham Common. The MexicanI think we're all agreed this is shit. Let's move on.... You Know We Can't Go BackAgree with JP. This is great fun and probably my 3rd fave on the album. Let's be honest here though, if Richard Ashcroft released this he would have been murdered for it. I would have still liked it though. Ballad Of The Mighty ITHIS IS THE SHIT! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I love it. It's adds a sense of paranoia and spooky vibes to What A Life. You an feel Noel taking that sound and adding something to it. Genuinely progressing and making a shit heavy great ass tune. If we made an post Oasis Greatest Hits album (which would be called BE Chasing Different Birds, eh lads? ) this would be on it and swaggering all over the place. At Clapham Common I'm going to be doing Texas Tornados in the mosh pit when this comes on. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

"Lock all the doors" starts like The Darkness' "Get your hands off my woman".

Haven't heard it yet, but is that one of the Chuckle brothers with Liam above? Hahahahaha. Had an ongoing joke at work the past week regarding them and subsequently been doing loads of research - did you know their real surname is Elliott and that Paul was involved in a motorbike crash after swerving a flock of goats while on holiday and thus received nasty cuts and a black eye for his troubles? Thankfully he didn't lose his chuckle vision.
Rock n roll.
