The debut single from one of my favourite Glasgow bands, Catholic Action, is out. I reckon a lot of Soapboxers will love it. soundcloud.com/catholic-action/luv-1Reminder: this is the band Blain was desperate to see - only to arrive at the venue 24 hours too early This band/tune was just recommended on the Pretty Green mailing list

New radiohead is pretty good. Burn the witch is such a powerful tune.

Going through this thread, seen a couple of people mention Night Beats. I've been enjoying their new album these past couple of weeks.

I've never "got" James Blake. He's a fucking square. Can't believe so many people have fell for something so utterly soulless.

This band/tune was just recommended on the Pretty Green mailing list ... so did you rate the tune or not? Not bad, can't remember a single thing though and I've heard it both times. On exy today you can find two nice things: Whitney is the project by the Smith Westerns guitarist and drummer, really chilled out tunes with some wing arrangements, close to Americana and the Band I'd say. Cullen Omori (Smith Westerns singer) did release a record closer to what they used to do which I liked too. And Whyte Horses, which was apparently released last year but it's re-released now, it's a light psychedelic album with some French girl vocals and a bit of Go Team at moments (Ian Parton contributed). Check 'La Couleur Originelle' or 'Astrologie Siderale'.

Fuck, the Radiohead album is excellent! Best since Hail To The Thief by a distance.

Best since Hail To The Thief by a distance. Agreed that it's excellent (Though not with 'best since Hail to the Thief'..) I've been listening to it all week, it gets better with every listen. I love the tone of the whole thing, there is so much happening on every song as well, counter rhythms in the back ground and instruments and sounds fading in and out, it's glorious.

I like the middle part (Ful Stop, Identikit, Numbers, Present Tense) but I don't care about the rest. That said, I'm no Radiohead fan. Plus Pitchfork's review I'd never say could move anyone to listen to the record.

I don't think there's a duff moment after two listens through. Decks Dark and Numbers jump out as the absolute highlights so far though.

On my 1st listen through as we speak. So far, the best moments have been Burn The Witch, Ful Stop & The Numbers.

Maybe we should resurrect the soapbox album club for the occasion?

I'd thought about suggesting that just the other day before I realized their new one was out.
