One listen in and it's...fine. Just fine. its not good. It's not bad. It's fine.
And I hate that. I want my dylan to be transcendent or appallingly awful. Adequate doesn't do it for me. But it is better than shadows in the night, yes.

Hope it's good. Though the last two records from legendary Hip Hop groups I've heard have been woeful (Wu-tang & Public Enemy). Still there's a lot of talent involved so hopefully it turns out good.
That Car Seat Headrest record is excellent.

I feel like the Car Seat Headrest album was made for my ears only. It encapsulates everything I love and want from guitar based music. I knew I'd love it from the first three singles alone and I'd seen him do a few of the album tracks live, but it has exceeded my expectations. The arrangements are so vibrant and ephemeral, the album is 70 minutes long but feel about 40.
And those lyrics, I almost feel that he is peerless in indie rock music at the moment in terms of lyrical content and language, he tows a similar fine line between genuine emotional turmoil and humour that someone like Morrissey or E do, but he delivers them in that languid way that Malkmus does. It takes a real talent to turn a line like 'I didn’t want you to hear that shake in my voice, my pain is my own' into a hooky sing-along chorus.
I love it.

It feels like 3 hours long for me, the deadpan delivery doesn't work for me.

I've just read up on them.
He's released 13 albums prior to this, mostly self-released on bandcamp. And only 24 years old.

I've just read up on them. He's released 13 albums prior to this, mostly self-released on bandcamp. And only 24 years old. Yeah, they're all still available for free on his Bandcamp page, the Teens of Style record from last year was in effect a 'best of' from his earlier output, but rerecorded so Matador could release a sort of teaser album. This new Teens of Denial record is his first proper album of new songs as a fully signed artist, recorded in a proper studio and with a proper band for the first time. They had to destroy thousands of vinyl last week because of a fuck up with a publishing company, there is a small interpolation of a Cars song on one of the songs that they thought they had permission for but turned out they didn't. So they had to destroy all the vinyl they had printed, Will re-recorded the song last week in time for the official digital album release last Friday. Vinyl has been delayed until late July now.

Oh why don't you just suck his dick Kev! I've got more albums on bandcamp than him, a cooler name & I'm stronger than him.

I've always felt he has a problem with edition, both about the quantity and the length of the songs. But everyone seems to be wanking over him so guess it's just fine like it is.
