Yeah I'm digging Maddix, like Primrose Green it's slowly growing on me with each listen.
You know he did a record with Charles Rumback that came out in April? Not heard anything regarding that one.

There's a couple of albums I'm really loving at the minute...
Planet of Zeus - Loyal To The PackThey're a Greek groove/stoner/heavy rock band. I doubt it'll be many peoples cup of tea on here but it's been floating my boat all week.  BEASTWARS - The Death of All ThingsA New Zealand heavy metal band. Metal is not usually my thing but there's something about this that really hits the spot. The vocals are really fucking raw and a bit shouty which I normally hate but this album just rocks the shit out of me.  Gozu - RevivalTotal stoner rock ala Kyuss and early QoTSA. There's a track on it called "Oldie" which is absolutely banging. Oh, and that album art is the shit. |

yeah it was an instrumental record store day release. keep meaning to pick up a copy on vinyl actually but not got round to it. really looking forward to seeing ryley again next week, hopefully have another night on the piss with him afterwards.

first listen i thought it was their weakest so far as there didn't seem quite as many big tunes but ultimately its still more of the same which is a good thing.

Yeah it isn't on par with Private Airplane or Into Sixes, probably on par with Body Language. Still it sounds exactly like Connections so of course it's AWESOME. Plus I wasn't sure if they still existed until two weeks ago so this is a real joy. Something that is unexpectedly GREAT is the new Max Romeo LP "Horror Zone". He's really turned back the years & made something that sounds like a spiritual successor to War ina Babylon. It features some original members of the Upsetters, Lee Perry's involved on a few tracks, they used the original equipment and even the same guy did the artwork. Great LP start to finish.  |
