Think this new Growlers record is their first one I dig. KOL new album is the most direct they've sounded in a while, not great but it could be worse. Goat still sound like Goat, but with South American flutes. The Lemon Twigs have their moments but I think they stretch their songs a bit too much. And new Foxygen is always good news.

Just listening to this now, seems pretty sweet. Kings of Leon, I'll give it a try but I'm sure it will be shite.

I do dig the Twigs, produced by Foxygen's Rado which is hardly a surprise. They seem to put a good show too so I might probably go see them when I head to TCOTU in Nov.

I've made to track 5 on the new KoL. I don't hate it, but I don't particularly like it; it's just mehhh.

For some strange reason (as I've never been a huge fan) I've had a real good feeling about his new record. Not heard it yet, but hoping I like it as much as you're enjoying it.
Had a few listens to the new Goat record & so far I'm a bit disappointed. Fair play to them for trying something different as their second LP was just a re-run of World Music. The album feels like it has far too much padding with too many moments that seem to lack direction. Some decent moments on there, but I'm not convinced this is going to grow on me a great deal.

Just listened to the Lemon Twigs album. I think perhaps I should've listened at night with a drink rather than just after waking up feeling groggy. Definitely not a first thing in a morning album. I suspect I won't like it at any time though.
They're clearly bursting with ideas and talent but need a producer who can reign them in a bit and edit them ffs! Rather than just saying, "fuck it- leave it all in". It's the geezer from Foxygen producing, and as Foxygen side projects go, Globelamp works much better for me.

really enjoying the debut lp wordless wonder by a band called real numbers. its very c86 inspired and i can imagine tucker, moz and bigred all liking it. the 10 songs come in at only 25 minutes so its short and sweet but is right up my street.

The Conor Oberst is really, really good.
Also, I think I'm really ill. My missus was listening to the new Kings of Leon album a bit over the weekend and I found myself enjoying it, and have listened to it once or twice myself since. Then today, I had the sudden urge to listen to something by The Killers, thinking that maybe I'd give their debut a listen for the first time in ages. Instead, I stuck their last album on and have sort of enjoyed it.

I'm absolutely loving the Lemon Twigs record, it's a bit all over the place, but I love it for that.
Talking of all over the place, that new Foxygen song America is fucking nuts, but I love it:

The new Kate Tampest record is excellent. Hadn't bothered with her until now (anytime I hear of an artist via the bbc before I've heard them elsewhere sends alarm bells ringing). However this is really fantastic stuff, lyrically it provides the best summary of life in modern Britain I've heard since Original Pirate Material. Also musically there's some great beats & interesting electronics. Great LP.
