I'd be more interested if he had used The Promise of the Real as the backing band tbh

neil young has ruined all of our end of year lists by announcing a new album to be released on 2nd december. (checks spreadsheet to see if ringo put out a new album this year...) Nope, last place on my list is still available! "My new robot" had better be a love song to daryl hannah.

Loving the NxWorries record 'Yes Lawd!', it's a collaboration record from Knowledge and Anderson Paak. It's out on Stones Throw, obvious comparison, but pretty much every review has also noted how it sits perfectly on the label, very much in the same 'spirit' of Madvillain & JayLib style collaborations. The beats are very Madlib, Knowledge must be a big fan, the whole record has a sort of collage feel too it, very soulful. Anderson Paak is more of a crooner than a rapper, I liked his Malibu record from earlier in the year, but this feels like a more cohesive effort and both of them seem to feed off each other. Well worth a listen.
Also been giving this a lot of time over the last couple of months. They're called Happy Diving and the record is called Electric Soul Unity:
It's breaking no boundaries, they sit somewhere between Dinosaur Jr and Weezer, very 'Alt-Rock', but I really enjoy the record. It's got thick, sludgy, loud guitars with loads of feedback, some punchier and punkier songs along with some slower dirgy ones. 10 songs, 30 minutes in and out.

New A Tribe Called Quest album confirmed for release in a couple of weeks. We're getting some big hitters dropping late in the year this time out. Inconsiderate cunts. If I had my way no one would be allowed to release an album after September to ensure our end of year lists were completely accurate.

The new Kate Tampest record is excellent. Hadn't bothered with her until now (anytime I hear of an artist via the bbc before I've heard them elsewhere sends alarm bells ringing). However this is really fantastic stuff, lyrically it provides the best summary of life in modern Britain I've heard since Original Pirate Material. Also musically there's some great beats & interesting electronics. Great LP. her last one is well worth a listen too Karl. Not heard the new'un. She also writes poetry and has written a novel, which follows the characters from the first album. She's a clever young thing.

The new Kate Tempest album is genuinely excellent. She's some talent. A great story teller. Shits on anything Mike Skinner did from a great height.
Tunnel Vision is SUCH a good track.

Been getting really into the Kevin Morby album over the weekend. I liked it when it came out but it's really clicked for me the last few days.

Yeah, I'm enjoying the A Tribe Called Quest record aswell, though I think it might be a touch too long, it loses focus a little bit for me, but that's only a small gripe.

Honeyblood album is well decent, a definite step up from their debut. Although it sounds like Stina is developing a serious mid-Atlantic twang.
