the total stone roses supported by the smiths presumably at norwich waterfront last night
missed oaysis as they were on stupidly early as the venue turns into a clubnight at 10 and i couldn't get there in time. i went to this same night last year and had a fucking great time and it was the same again. the smiths presumably are fucking superb.

Yesterday afternoon I went to a "Kidz Pop Party" featuring a live band performing the most dreadful pop songs you can imagine. It fucking counts though and is going on the gig list.
The highlight was the Little Mix section but the treacles were a bit too covered up still for my liking.

fun night saturday 4 bands for £9. "Special Guest" were like Sleaford Mods, meet east 17, meet Atari Teenage Riot, stupid fun. Frank Lloyd Wleft and his orchestra felt out of place on the bill but an enjoyable set nonetheless. Pink Eye Club did his Eddie Argos fronting 90s Ibiza anthems & Jim E. Smith was fucking brilliant. Great night.

the raveonettes at islington academy with popular forum member ROD. been a good few years since I've seen them. Did Whip It On in full, which was the main selling point of going. Enjoyed it, but actually preferred hearing the material from the couple of records that followed it more. Could have done without some of the later dream pop material but still, good gig. Dark Horses supported, they was forgettable. Libra Libra opened and were fucking terrible

Thursday at the Lexington with popular forum member KRBURG
Dan Carey’s new band were supposed to open but the singer lost his voice. HOT FACE supported, not bad yet completely forgettable. Guitarist looked like a joyless cunt and the drummer needed a slap. Joyeria headlined, such a great live band. Unfortunately place was only maybe 50% full. That coked up old bastard Dan Carey jumped on my fucking foot as well.

Is he not coming back to the soapy, and does he still drink Krburg 1664? Ask him from Sul.
Used to be my fav drink but I weirdly prefer dirt cheap Tescos own cider nowadays. I can still do a bottle of Stella but think I'm on cider for leef now.

A couple weeks ago saw The Meteors, which were decent but I mainly went because the band of my tattooist were opening and were cool.
Last Saturday it was a full day out but tbh I didn't pay attention to most of the shows I attended. 2 Spanish random bands in the morning by the sea, then later on it was time for Temples (tamer than expected), random Spanish bands and The Dandy Warhols (good sound but was quite out of my tits by this point).
Yesterday I went to see some Josh Rouse, who apparently was famous like 20 years ago (searching over here there's a song of him on brad's mixtape!) but I only knew because he married a Spanish and now lives here in Valencia. Truth is I seem to prefer his most recent record to the ones I've heard from his "classic" period, but anyway he was in good mood and the band was tight, quite enjoyed it all.

Loop in the small upstairs room at Norwich Waterfront last night.
I got big into loop last year so had been looking forward to seeing them live. They're one of those late 80s space rock bands that do a similar thing to Spacemen 3 etc. Sound was great and really loud. When they hit the groove there were some really powerful moments where I was in the zone. A few tunes didn't quite work though so it felt a slightly inconsistent set. Glad I went to see them but one of those where I'm probably one and done rather than in a rush to see them again.

The Wedding Present at Norwich Arts Centre tonight.
I fucking love this band. Was possibly my favourite time seeing them tonight. Normally when they tour nowadays it's playing one of their albums in full and then a few assorted hits but they weren't doing that this time so the set was paced a bit differently. Crowd was well up for it tonight. You normally get a decent old man mosh pit at Wedding Present gigs but this was lairier than I've ever seen before, maybe due to it being a Saturday night on a bank holiday weekend. There were several men 60 + crowd surfing out there. Proper heroes.

First gig in months last night. Drove up to my hometown of Kingston to see local (and national) hero Gord Sinclair of the tragically hip lay a solo show. He isn’t a great (or really even decent) singer, but he is a genuinely nice guy so we went up to support him and was pleasantly surprised. His band is good, also somewhat bar-bandy (although you could’ve said the same of the hip). The crowd was shit though…mostly interested in chitchatting throughout. But Paul Langlois (also of the hip) came up and sang a song in the encore, which was nice. Long drive, though. 6/10

Arctic Monkeys supported by The Hives and The Mysterines at Carrow Road Stadium Norwich last night.
Felt awful the week prior with bad flu, just started to feel better when I woke up to what I think is a psoriatic arthritis flare-up in my knee meaning I was unable to walk. Probably shouldn't have gone to this gig but I borrowed some crutches and got on with it.
Mysterines were good though had terrible Alan Partridge based banter. The Hives totally stole the show for me and it was probably my first time seeing them in over 20 years. Really great set. Arctics was a good setlist but basically felt like they lost the crowd a little if they weren't playing something from the first two albums or a huge hit. I made the decision to leave early in order to limp back for a bus not in a rush and it was the right choice. Missed a couple of bangers but saw over 75% of their set.

Really great set. Same thing happened to me last year, I thought it was a bone bruise since I’d slammed into a table but was probably gout. I hobbled my way through an outdoor John Fogerty gig, which I regretted immediately, since it was the same gig he did in 2016. And 2011. And probably 1971. And of course the hives stole the show. The champagne of bands.

JP did you not see the Hives with me at that terrible Dwayne gig with Ryan Adams supporting in Clapham?
Anyway, last gig... THE HIVES in Kingston. Had only seen them do festivals + a underwhelming Brixton gig in about 2003. Great to see them in a small venue. Just stupid bloody fun. Never been overly arsed with them on record but I think you must be a bit dead inside not to enjoy them live.

Nah I stayed in the boozer with Keith and Sam for their set. Only got to the venue in time for Modest Mouse who were very average.
