Columbia
Here's where I lose more of you.
This is one of those songs old school fans rave about, particularly the live experience. I've not experienced it live myself, so it's a real dirge - shoddy lyrics, some nice guitar bits, and cool double tracked vocals during the "I can't tell you..." bit, but it's all way too long - I've skipped it more often than I've played it.
4/10.
You?

'Kin hell - not sure what is more striking, your low rating or the amount of blockbuster tunes in a row. I do generally think Columbia and RnRS always sounded better live though, even towards the end. The Barrowlands version is mega.

Is Carry us all better than Columbia?
Oh yes.
Anyway, we're only up to track 28 - there are 107 to go, by my count.

You don't have to have been at the boardwalk in 1993 to realize Columbia is one of their 10 best songs. FFS.

I prefer every single single. Even She is love. Even Little by little. Even Shakermaker. Their three worst singles.

Lino's Oasis ratings are almost as dubious as his taste in soft porn. Anyway:
Cloudburst is great fun, a really carefree and uplifting tune. I listened to it for years without realising it was a straight lift from the Roses, not that that matters. My favourite line is "I need shades 'cos the sun is blinding"
Columbia_rocks_man, as we know, and it's one of the highlights of DM for me. I love its groove and the way it slowly builds into something completely different from the rest of the album. It's one of the few songs on which I've always preferred Tony McCarroll's drumming to an Alan White live version.

Cum On Feel the Noize
Slade cover, B-side to Don't Look Back In Anger, it's a good fit and appropriate for Oasis at this point in time. Noel's echoing vocals during the "don't know why" bits are a bit grating. Liam's stretching himself at a few points throughout. But it's big, loud, full of guitars, and sounds like a party - "woo" and whistles at various points. It all descends into a rowdy crowd singalong, which is perfect for Oasis 1994-1998, but would be so alien come Oasis 1999 onward. Scally banter closes it out, a bit like Bonehead's Bank Holiday and (It's good) to be free. 6/10.
And you all?

The best cover Oasis ever did, and even better than the original.

Cast no Shadow - Great little tune, nice vibe and production on it. Even like Noels backing vox. Wish he'd have written some more lyrics for it though. FYI regarding the casting of a shadow: i'm sure I remember it being because Noel was watching him on stage at glastonbury and he was so thin he didn't cast a shadow against the sun which was shining into him (a slight exaggeration obvs).
Champagne Supernova - Epic. Fave live version is the one at Earls Court. When my parents used to take me to the pub and give me 20p for the jukebox, I always used to put this one as it was the longest (and best) song that I knew.
Cigarettes & Alcohol - Liam transforms what is a wholly derivative rocker into a clarion call for the good life of doing fuck all and being cool as fuck.
Cloudburst - I've always really liked this song. I love that whole 92' 93' slightly baggy stone roses sound. The outtro is really cool on this song, where it stops for a sec before the guitar goes back on it's own, followed by that baggy beat and more guitars.
Columbia - Another one that's pure 92' 93' Oasis. Huge groove, huge song, great druggy lyrics. Monster.
Cum on feel the noize - Didn't remember the production being so rough on this. It sounds bloody awful. Shite production aside, it captures a vibe. Perfect song for Liam to belt out.
What a fucking great run of songs...
Maybe Oasis were better than I thought

Cum On Feel The Noize is epic. Weirdly, despite being a cover, it's the Oasis song I hold most memories to as me and my mates always used to play this to pump us up as we booted up to play tag-team Pro Evo. So this anthem become our anthem. Naturally the computer still always beat us.
Lino, is everybody having fun on a song automatically a scally? Pretty cute giggle at the end if you ask me.

can y'see it now (i can see it now) - i remember loving this when it first came out and thought it was really refreshing for oasis. not listened to it in years until now and it still sounds pretty good. i really like the guitar sound and the vocals work. underated tune this.
carry us all - the sort of ballad noel can knock out in his sleep. i used to be a bit of a sucker for these type of tunes but this is particularly average.
cast no shadow - always been one of my favourites from whats the story morning glory. properly love this and unlike a lot of the others from this period it never really got overplayed so still feels really fresh.
champagne supernova - this is obviously great but i don't love it as much as some. wouldn't make my top 10 oasis tunes anyway.
cigarettes and alcohol - as someone else said, liam makes this. one of my favourite liam vocals and the whole sound of this is excellent.
cloudburst - i don't listen to these early tunes enough. another roses rip off but i really enjoy this time in oasis history
columbia - i can remember when i first started posting on the masterplan back when i was about 16 and seeing lots of people rave about this tune and i didn't really get it. as time has gone on though i've realised this is top draw oasis material and sounds cool as fuck.
cum on feel the noize - always loved this and 100% my favourite oasis cover. i remember seeing them do this on totp when liam had his beard and thought he was the coolest man on the planet.

Would say scally is more synonymous with chav whereas scallywag is more playful - this I didn't see on dictionary corner

Champagne Supernova - I have laughed, cried, drew blood to this song (no joke). Its the 2nd best Oasis song of all time. S hasn't came up yet. It reminds me of being young, being in love, being free, having certain members of my family still alive, being really really happy. If it comes on in a pub now I get a certain feeling. I usually go outside for a cigarette. It's Noel at his best, in his prime and its Liam being the best singer in the world. I love it.

The most light-hearted track on Definitely Maybe, it's up and bouncy and maybe more guitar heavy than it need be - Liam's vocals are great, stretching to hit the high notes around "these could be the best days". Their most Britpop moment until Bonehead's Bank Holiday, it's enjoyable but I always hate references to food in songs (Glass Onion, Savoy Truffle). 6/10 You?
