Well, I really don't like the new record at all  even the records I don't care for I usually find a couple of gems to make it worthwhile, but this one I actively dislike. |

What did you think Tux? I really hate the production on this. He's starting to sound too settled with this band. I'm not 100% sure how recording for these recent records go down, but it feels like he needs to get back a more DIY approach in the recording. I've liked tracks here & there but the last four proper GBV records I've not really cared for. Even though they do move into different territories they still come across as on the nose ROCK, perhaps its the production or maybe the familiarity of this band. The Cub Scout Bowling Pins releases feel more in line with what I want from a GBV release.

After 3 listens, I find it pretty hit and miss. First track is so weird for a GBV album opener. Quite like the 3 that follow. Then things get s bit all over the place for a while but feel like they pick up a bit again towards the end. I also didn't think Earth Man Blues was very good. Maybe it's time Bob got The Jesus Abyss and Tuckerman in for a new incarnation of GBV.

I'm in the same camp now Barny. The last five records I've not cared for. Pollard's knack for a great hook seems to be deteriorating & the current lineup of the band are too ROCK for my tastes.

Enjoying the new GBV a fair bit tbh. I absolutely love it now btw, some absolute belters on it. GBV fever has gotten me again, working my way backwards through the discography. |

Anyone bothered with Tremblers and Goggles by Rank? Gave it a spin yesterday while cooking Sunday lunch and thought it was pretty good. Looking forward to spinning it a bit more throughout this week.

La La Land didn't exactly knock my socks off but really enjoying Welshpool Frillies. Standout tracks so far are Cruisers' Cross, Seedling and Betters Odds. Got a feeling it might be a bit of a grower this one.
