or I'll take the tractor rape train LOL Found this guy on bandcamp who goes under the name of Hello Whirled, he has just put out a 50 song covers album of Pollard stuff. Though I was checking out his original music, he seems to put out about 20 releases a year & it's all very GBV. It's all free but you can get his entire back catalogue for just 5 bucks so I might purchase that and have a deep dive. Probably a lot of rubbish in there but flicking through for a while I was finding plenty of stuff that sounded great to my ears. hellowhirled.bandcamp.com |

You can actually download them all for free, but I noticed how little views the guys stuff has on youtube & fuck me he's put some effort in so I threw him £5, stick that in your sky rocket sunshine I said to let him know that I'm the alpha male. Yet everytime I go to click download on the download page it comes up error so I'm going to have to download them individually anyway it seems  Might just listen to one a day, I've a feeling I'm gonna have a mega playlist when I'm done & can also rip off all his ideas! |

Turns out they aren't all free to download, but yeah $5 for the lot. Looking on bandcamp it seems less than 10 people have bought the collection, I feel for the guy!

anyway Earth Man Blues kills. it's not the best album from this lineup (I can think of at least 3 I like more) but it's still great and it has "trust them now" and "how can a pluuuuuuuuuumb be perfected?"

I'm struggling a bit with the new one minus a couple of tunes. Really love that cub scout bowling pins EP though, excited for the full length. Space Gun & Zeppelin Over China are my favourites of this recent batch.

I love Guided By Voices so fucking much. They've been the one band who can really help level me out when I feel like I'm going to fall to pieces. When it gets like that, I just stick Bee Thousand or Alien Lanes on and get lost in the romance of the idea that maybe I will one day start making tunes with my pals in my garage, drinking beer and having a good time. Not gonna happen 'cos none of may mates play instruments or are big into music, but just the idea of it, which listening to GBV really enhances, is enough to distract me from the realities of life for a bit.
