I can't get much joy out of publications decade lists. At least with end of year ones you are likely to find a bunch of records you've never heard of that'll cause some intrigue (Norman records end of year list a few years back was where I first heard of Sleaford Mods). When big websites/magazines do this kinda thing it just feels self servicing & they just want to validate the acts that have fans likely to buy/visit their shit. There's no personal touch which is why I'm looking forward to lists from JP, Tux, Barny Baz & Titch (I just started singing HOLD TIGHT when I typed that , you 5 should definitely start a tribute band) because I wanna see the kinda records listed that captured people on a personal level even if nobody else really gave a shit. SHIT HORSE, CONNECTIONS EARLY BRONSON.

How many albums will you be taking into account when compiling the results Barny?

I reckon we should keep it to a top 100 each. Nobody needs to know Krburg's 347th favourite album of the decade.

The problem is that being less than 10 lists if we are counting up to 100 would make any top10 pick higher than another with 3 or 4 votes but on lower positions. I'd like to find a balance but whatever you decide.

It's got to be top 100, surely?

I must admit I was only going to do 50 but I need little to no encouragement to add another 50 in.

Gotta be a 100! that only leaves an average of 10 records per year, I mean every year has 10 wonderful records so it is gonna be real tough to keep it to a 100 tbh.
anyway just shut up about it! End of year lists will be around the corner! I start my PREP early November to have it ready by the infamous December 15th none-AIDS day date.

I'm gonna struggle with my 2019 end of year list. There are some records that I absolutely love but I've not listened to nearly as much this year thanks to the Guided By Voices obsession.

100 seems sensible. And as Karl says, all 100 should be absolute bangers.

2048 will be a 100 years since what is considered the birth of the LP. So if we're all still alive we can do a 1000 record list from the past 100 years. That's something to look forward to, surely?

Imagine being the last man standing, so your list becomes the Soapbox list!

It's for this reason I hope my death is long and drawn out rather than sudden. While others make a bucket list of things to do when they find out they're terminally ill I would just go round making as many lists as I could ready for the soapbox.

If I'm on my way out I'll hand the Yellow Peril keys to Tuckerman.

If I'm on my way out I'll hand the Yellow Peril keys to Tuckerman. It'd be an honour. I'd rework Hello Monday and play it at your funeral on the organ... "Goodbye Mahoney It was great To know you"

Is this the right thread? Ok.
Should I add an unrealeased album that was finally released during this decade? Not talking about big guns like Dylan's bootleg series and that. Just a record by a band that never released a record during their initial time.
