I didn’t, but that’s some Neil Young awesome shit if I ever heard it.
Chrissie has kept quiet about it, but has turned into a Wellard in recent years. Just awaiting the growth of the Wellends to confirm his transformation. Will also accept a tattoo of his face

Yeah there’s some great material on there, I’m unsure if I love it as a whole piece yet but I’m digging it

jay electronica's loooooong awaited debut album 'the written testimony' is a marvel and if anything surpasses it this year, i'd be incredibly happy (if i'm still alive lol).
each track is incredibly produced, unpredictable and exciting. jay z does uncredited verses throughout, and is bafflingly pretty much on the strongest form in his career.
it's fucking incredible tbh.

Really enjoying this new live album collaboration between Chris Forsyth and Garcia Peoples. Never used to be that fussed by live albums but since getting more into the jam scene/proggy stuff and jazz I've realised that these live albums can be a different beast alltogether from an act's recorded output.

I hated his last two albums, but I didn’t mind this one, maybe I’m just desperate to be positive about something, but I really liked ‘once I saw the river clean’.

i see quite a few albums due out in the next month or two are getting their release dates put back to autumn now. i see why theyre doing it but i fucking need new music now more than ever. will be a shame for the indepdent record stores too who are relying purely on mail order at the moment. at least a steady flow of new releases would keep the orders coming through for them.

What you need right now JP, in the absence of new music, is old music. There's an infinite world of music to be discovered. Too much.
And to start topically, the ever legendary Norman Jay does a radio show on sohoradio and posts his setlist. The following is as much of his setlist as I could find on Spotify. Good times for bad times

The Denzil Porter mini album/EP Bodega Rap is great.
Only 15mins, but very short and very sweet.
I reckon he's got the best flow in hip hop at the moment. And a great story teller too.

new shabaka hutchings and the ancestors gets the jp thumbs up Ah man, I saw him play as one of the Five Blokes with Louis Maholo Maholo And The Five Blokes at Oto last year. It was fucking amazing. Another one of the five blokes was John Edwards- he's almost like the house upright bass player there. You will never see anyone play the bass like him. He does extraordinary things.

yeah can't wait for that. so nice to have someone bring their album release forward when so many are delaying theirs at the moment.
really enjoying the new peel dream magazine album. i think i posted about them around the time of their debut a couple of years ago. nothing new but it has a nice stereolab/broadcast type vibe going on.

I was a bit afraid about the new Strokes record, looks like there's a bit of hype after throwing them to the lions in the past. Everybody seems to be welcoming them back nowadays but I dunno, I really liked Comedown Machine tbh. On first listen, production seems quite nice in their retro-futurist 80s thing (Rick Rubin was also another concern of mine). Some songs are a bit on the safe side but still quite decent, while others are a bit different for them which is what I'd like them to do even more. There lots of weird fragments and shit which I'm finding enjoyable.

Really underwhelmed by the new strokes songs.
This band is done as fuck.
“oh its really hard getting back together after 8 years, cause you know we’ve all moved on to bigger and better things you know!”
Is what they’ve been saying after every album release since first impressions.......shut the fuck up please and just die already.
