I heard a few songs and it sounds pretty good so far. Seems like a concept album very in line with Nebraska by Bruce Springsteen.

I think they are really hitting their groove again now the last two albums have been pretty darn good (I try and forgot Day & Age / Battle Born eras)

*Also just realized Jonathan Rado (Foxygen) produced & wrote on this record. He might be the hottest "indie" producer in the game right now.

FUCK - IT IS GOOD. 

The little blurbs before the songs/the lyrics and storytelling are massive. Really impressed with this. 

Thanks, Steve. Can't see it topping Imploding which was fantastic, but I'll surely have some fun reading reviews and listening to it

Also liking the new Killers on first listen through. Quiet Town is quite the tune. But yeah, everything here is a little more delicate and understated and I think it works very well.

Yeah, Imploding and Pressure are two totally different albums. It's hard to even judge this one on past releases I think. 

I don't even know how any of the songs will get drawn into a setlist with other songs. I read something where they said they might do a tour of just this album with the strings/piano/horns etc..... and play it start to finish.

Anyways. West Hills is a great album opener and it's hauntingly beautiful. 

Credit where it's due. It's a lot better than I expected.

I've never listened to Villagers before, but on first listen this new album is a bit of a revelation.

What a track So Simpatico is!

It's getting better with each listen. 

I find you can't just listen to one track - it needs to be played through. 

Might be my favorite so far this year but lots of time left  ! I gotta go back and see what else has come out in 2021. 

I've gone the opposite way. Had a second listen through and haven't bothered since.

Heard this on 6music earlier and liked it. Thought it sounded a bit like Yoshimi era Flaming Lips. Was upset with myself to find out it was Villagers who I had always written off as being dull.

Ha! More or less exactly what I thought. I've gone back to his first couple of albums in the last couple of days and he's got more about him than I remembered. Particularly the 2nd album- Awayland.

On the poppier side of Indie i've really enjoyed the Japanese Breakfast album.

On the dream poppier side of pop i've really enjoyed the Lightning Bug album.

The latter particularly is beautiful.

Just stopping by to say I love this so will definitely be checking the album out over the weekend! Cheers, Karl.

Damu The Fudgemunk is my album of the year so far.

Never listened to any of his stuff before. Aware of the name from the Archie Sheep thing he did. What kind of thing is this new one?

Suuns record sounded really boring.

Hip hop with a definite jazz vibe.
90s sounding in places. Not clear which are jazz samples and which his own beats and production. I got an early DJ Shadow vibe in parts, but deffo not a rip off. The 4 part closing run 'Four Better or Worse pts 1,2,3 and 4' is stunning.
