I've never heard Are You Passionate? but really enjoying Toast so far. It might join my rank of 'bad' Neil Young records that I kinda love, Quit and How Ya Doin' are marvels.
had been kinda quiet but things have picked up in recent weeks
the black midi record is sensational. it's a possible masterpiece, jam packed of ideas & different styles, yet the entire record flows effortlessly. they've never sounded so confident + the production is top notch. so much going on, an incredible record.
working men's club has been a nice surprise. their debut did little for me & see them live did even less, yet this record feels like a major step up. perhaps I'll revisit the debut
the regressive left's ep is banging. if you like lcd soundsystem give it a go
plus viagra boys, a band i had little interest in have really progressed their sound into dance-punk territory & appear to have learnt how to actually write catchy tunes. a nice surprise
+ mj lenderman's record is a great listen, mixing lo-fi indie with dinosaur jr style slacker rock & some alt-country.
Do you know if they kept the same core group of guys in the band? They were recently on Jimmy Kimmel doing REAL LOVE and I couldn't recognize most.. but not sure if they wouldn't be needed for this tune. They did have a second drummer out though on his own kit ... it was hard enough getting into a band with the drummer singing let alone having two drum kits on stage ffs.

Been in Michigan last week, still have to catch up with life and see that video but from what I know most of the band is the same?
Subscribed to secretly whatever vinyl thingy for 3 month with special editions from Yeah Yeahs, Whitney and Stella Donnelly
hey Steve. I'm going HARD on post Pinkerton Weezer, to say I am going through a lot emotionally right now because of this is an understatement. I have come to the conclusion that Everything Will Be Alright in the End is actually a solid record & even the White album has a few lovely tunes. I just have these latest two EP/record things to hear, which I'm dreading. Rivers should just write songs for pop artists, so often on these later records it sounds like he's trying to write a song for Katy Perry or something. I reckon I could barely compile 2 albums worth of songs I like post pinkerton. Such a shit show. What annoys me is that the tunes, even with terrible modern pop tropes & lyrics that sound like they was written by a 14 year old is that the killer hooks are still there. Why can't someone just give him a distorted guitar and force him to record with Albini and make something that people might like.
I can't believe I sat through the teal album. I'll never be the same. I still think Green is pretty fucking good record tbh. I watched some recent live footage from that tour with Green Day and it looked really lame. I don't think I'll ever pay to see them, should have gone early 2000s before it went to total shit
EWBAITHE is actually my second favourite record by them, with Pinkerton and Green taking the 3rd and 4th spots I guess. I quite enjoyed both records from last year but the Seasonz EPs have been quite shit.
I managed to find 21 songs post green that I liked Fucking hell that was hard work. Ended up making a 14 track record of my favourites so now when I don't feel like listening to the 1st three records I can just stick that on and pretend Rivers just took 20 years to follow up Green and can forget about the horrors of the past 20 years.
