Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Cool It Down comes out tomorrow. Already getting some favorable reviews. I quite enjoyed it tbh, was a bit worried as wasn't feeling big on the singles but the whole record is a short and smooth travel that works for me. Alvvays has just entered the house though

After some background listens discovered myself enjoying the new Sports Team one, big 1990s vibes at points

Just getting round to spending some proper time with the latest from Black Country, New Road and Black Midi. Both are so so good, but, I am particularly loving the Black Country, New Road record.

Phoenix got a new album out in a few weeks.
1901 is still a tune.

I just find that croon laughable. The songs are nowhere near strong enough to justify it. Theyāre a band who are ageing really badly, tbh

I had a listen this morning and pretty disappointing. Loved Mirrorball and the idea of playing the last album straight but there is not enough ideas or character. The third tune sounds like they have had to fool themselves into writing an AM tune via the dirge synth. The middle is very samey.
Reminds me of Ashcroft's early stuff where you're so desperate to hear an electric guitar and some energy that you're trying to forgive the fact what is presented is so bland. He already done this jive better with the Shadow Puppets. Time to move on.

On a separate note, I would guess he has an Alan Patridge type breakdown in the last 5 years.

On a separate note, I would guess he has an Alan Patridge type breakdown in the last 5 years. Less driving to Dundee in bare feet, more moving to Brooklyn in thousand dollar slip-on loafers.

The Arctic Monkeys album is brilliant. Best since the debut.
His 'croon' is ace; turn of phrase wittier than ever and someone's dug up David Axelrod to produce it.

Seems Dry Cleaning has a new one out.
I'd imagine Mahoney has slept in listening to that trash.

New Arctic Monkeys is alright after one listen.
I kind of find it like the Whitney record it's good background music while I work. replay value might be low but I will give it a few spins.

There's a load of 20th anniversary Up the Bracket special releases today.
Live at 100 Club from 2002 Demos and sessions from UTB Outtakes from the session
Am actually really looking forward to the 20th anniversary gigs now. Playing a lovely little venue in Luxembourg again next month.
