2023 end of year lists

If it wasn't for Jazz and Lankum there'd be no end of year lists. Cos everything else released has been dogshit.

There are 43 vinyl versions of the new Rolling Stones album available if you are looking to grab something a little more traditional that may take your fancy.

Yes, definitely insanely catchy and direct, pretty basic style-wise but with emotional lyrics (some including a good dosage of humour) and nearly always a big chorus to sing. I enjoy different aspects from each one of them, but no doubt it could look as a pretty homogeneous scene on a quick look.

I don't know about the production, they're all pretty much on small labels and self-produced or produced by friends on other bands (same people might have produced several records on the list). Also those are not debuts for the most part so it's like their edges have been refined a bit. But yes, they all definitely sound better live.

Clearly everybody knew there was no point in releasing good albums this year as the Rolling Stones would vanquish anything with the majestic Hackney Diamonds

Btw I'm surprised I have not seen Primal Scream's BBC sessions in any of these lists - at least as a reissue/archival release. It's truly one of the best thing they ever put out, and puts the first album and early singles into an unexpected new perspective.

Also Bobby's autobiography what I've just started reading is brilliant.

What do people see in this shit? It sounds like about 20 albums from the year but not done particularly well. Might have to tweet it at Joey Barton to get some real feedback.

Seriously don't understand how anyone could find that Boygenius record interesting though. It's so dull. I guess all the publications get to pat themselves on the back bigging up the female SUPERGROUP that includes 2 members that absolutely nobody outside of indie-folk circles would give a flying FUCK about if Bridgers wasn't involved.
