I rank it as the second worse record Anton has put out, just ahead of that piece of shit he released this year. He's gone completely up his own arse & the sooner he keeps hanging around with a bunch of losers in Iceland making what he thinks is interesting music, the better.

1. Take It From The Man! 2. Bravery, Repetition & Noise 3. Methodrone 4. Give It Back! 5. Who Killed Sgt Pepper 6. Strung Out In Heaven 7. Space Girl and Other Favourites 8. Thank God for Mental Illness 9. Her Satanic Majesties' Second Request 10. My Bloody Underground 11. ...And This Is Our Music
All great albums though, wouldn't rate any of them below 7/10. ;D

its alot easier to admire, than it is to love. given the standard of some of the music anton's made over the years, i rank it pretty lowly in the bjm canon. not because its not good, because it is- like ben says, crazy, and with some very good tracks, but that fades a bit when i consider just how many amazing songs and better records antons come up with over the years.

Yeah but not even nearly as good as Wintersox's tbh. Thanks. I don't know if what you said is true or not, but it is a fine compliment. Certainly Brian Jonestown Massacre are up there with the greatest of all time. The art is consistent and just better than most people's half efforts and money minded barker acts. I don't want to get into ranking albums, but as far as the topic goes, My Bloody Underground, that is actually a classic album, too many great songs. People who really know about art and music in the future will rank many of the albums by Anton Newcombe as the best of all time if they don't already.

Wintersox posting on a different music thread (although after a comment related with him) is... nice?

Wintersox posting on a different music thread (although after a comment related with him) is... nice? Was about to say something similar. Its a breakthrough. I think its a great record. Its definitely different, but its very hypnotic and I love the rhythms and patterns of sound over the entirety of the album.

Its a strange one really as it has marked the start of a real change in there studio sound, a change that I think on the whole has been bad for them, they hardly play any of there newer songs live and that new album is total dog shit. I'm mildly concerned that its got them totally going down the wrong track. However when i'm in the right mood that album can take me to some weird and cool places that non of there other albums can take me so on the whole i'm grateful for it, its a solid piece of work that should rightly sit alongside the classics.

Great to see you posting again Stocky. Gotta say I disagree tho, I thought MBU was a steaming pile of shite.
''Let's Go Fuckin Mental'' in particular makes me squirm. It's a great chant for you and the lads to sing when you're pissed out in Glasgow. But it's definitely not the type of song a slightly unhinged American alt-rock star should consider covering. Unless he wants to sound like a total dick.

I have to agree Andy. Hated it at first but it's quite a tune indeed. What do you think of Bring Me the Head of Paul McCartney etc etc?
