I remember a few people going nuts for Albert Hammond Jr's solo records, but they used to make me genuinely nod off. I think it was his dull as Barney's pant-drawer melodies and half-arsed sounding vocals. 101 was fucking brilliant, mind. Like a lost Strokes gem (Julian turned it down, apparently. The wazzok) I liked the first one alright, not that much as I never bothered with the second. Though Meinby spoke highly of it! "It's hard to live in the city" do me a favour! Try living in the fucking woods having to hunt for your food. The second half of the last song the first album is the best on it, which in all fairness is a load of piled up orchestras doing what every musicians with an account asks them for. Can't wait for the new strokes though. Should render me in some good skyping with Ana as well.

Yeah, I like the Little Joy record a lot, it was probably me biggin' it up. Julian's one, like you said, some pop tunes, some "interesting" ones, but not a record I'll stick frequently.
The new Japanese bonus track is mint btw

Cheers for the up Its well poppy, innit? Early impressions - gud. Love Machu PicchuNice to see they're back to half-hour albums too Seriously, they work better in short bursts innit I'll defend track four, You're So Right too, whilst i'm here. I hated it at first, but it grows on ya

I still dislike You're So right, it could soundtrack one of my girlfriend's gloomy dreams, but that's it. I'm glad it's the only one though. On first listen there are so many sounds and things that need to get settled, too much 80s sounding for my liking, but 4 of the 5 songs I have previously heard now I love, so time will say. They sound more poppy now, yeah, but it's hard to sound raw with that clean production, don't think they'll ever do another Is This It.

It sounds a lot more like Casacakemix's solo record, dunnit?
Tbh, i'm just glad to be hearing new material, after 6 bloody years or whatever ridiculous time it's been
Glad it's a bit different to the previous stuff, too. Can see a few die-hard fans hating it though

It sounds a lot more like Casacakemix's solo record, dunnit? The thing is this is the record with least participation by him, recording the vocals separately and he has publicly expressed he wouldn't have done everything like it is. But yeah, some parts of it sound like Phrazes.

First Impression, bit underwhelming, 3-4 great tracks, the rest sound unfinished to my ears anyway, more like song ideas rather than finished tracks
Machu Picchu is the bollox though

Production seems a lot better compared to FIOE. Almost reminds me sort Julians solo stuff...

Machu Picchu is the best track here. The rest is very underwhelming.
