MBV at the Barrowland is a contender for the best gig I've ever seen. Such a great night. I really doubt I'll ever hear as anything as heavy as Feed Me With Your Kiss again.
The JAMC gig at Brixton was great as well. It was an eye-opener in many ways. I realised there was actually a man behind the Mahoney myth, and that The Horrors are actually a quality band. And Evan Dando really is as big a waster as people say he is.
I've managed to cross off most of my must-sees in the last few years, so now I'm starting to reach a bit.
1. Jarvis/Pulp (might be getting on a plane next year, it appears) 2. The Libertines 3. Neil Young WITH Crazy Horse. seen neil a few times, but I want the ragged glory of the Horse, man. (It sounds better if you read that like a washed-out 60s hippy is saying it.) 4. AC/DC (they played ottawa last year and I didn't go for some stupid reason.) 5. Tom Petty 6. Rage against the machine 7. The La's, assuming Mavers ever gets his act together 8. The Coral 9. The Charlatans (was supposed to see them in 08, cancelled because of drummer shoulder surgery. Was supposed to see them in september, cancelled because of drummer brain surgery. Get another drummer, FFS.) 10 out of 10 beady eyes all neet.
that MBV gig night was one of the best nights out i've had in a long time. just a surreal drunken mess. paced my drinking perfectly too, which makes a big difference.
OASISBROTHER ANDYGOINGNOWHERE BABU DANCING TO JET KARL WHINING AT THE 20 MIN HOLOCAUST GIG ENDING ABS HITTING ON UNDERAGE WOMEN AS SOON AS WE ENTERED A CLUB
i don't even remember the last bit.
that whole evening/night was without doubt the highlight of my 8 years as part of these forums. i sorted the oasisbrother meetup and remember phoning him on the way down to TCOTU and struggling to give him directions, and was convinced he wouldn't be able to make it, then getting a call from him saying he was at the tube station. amazing.
He was a really nice bloke too, so friendly, I expected him to be shouting MADFERIT all the time.
We had Babu there for that
i remember talking to babu on the phone when i was making my way there, he was so hyperactive. and then when i got to the pub, all i could hear him screaming was "MADFERITTTTTTTTTTT" in a weirdly high-pitched voice every time a photo was being taken
the sone roses. I think ive seen a lot of the acts that i care about.
but id like to see
ryan adams arctic monkeys (I had a demo from 2005 that was passed around in glasgow take that rodders!) patti smith black rebel ( Iave seen I just remembered) white stripes british sea power, after all the good words ive heard from them shit horse. (hey, i even got the t shirt) libertines black lips bowie and springsteen, not together but Id like to see them just because camera obscura the cribs the rifles the rakes
He hides behind this electro-ponce image on the soapbox but anybody has seen him out knows he swaggers like a parker wearing manc & is as madferit as they come.
I might be going to TCOTU soon, its been a while now and its dead cheap. perhaps im looking into it for next spring. yeah, I think I will now. big meet up then, bring cm punk and we can shout at eachother then hug and rumble
