Great tunes bartman. I've spent the past 3 hours adding new soul records to my ITunes. Gonna blast the soul in 2011

You should check out Marvin Gaye's pre-WGO material. Moods of Marvin Gaye and especially In the Groove are two of my all-time favourites.

Thanks, I'll grab them now. Today I heard Al Green's 'Green Is Blues' record for the first time. I've been really into Al for years & had all his classic period records but Allmusic gave this 2 stars so I never bothered with it. Last time I listen to what they have to say again, it's great! Al hasn't developed the sound that makes him famous, it's more in the vain of Otis & Sam Cooke but still it's a really great LP & up there with his very best work. Will have to give his first record Back Up Train a try now.

I'm not sure who turtled the Staple Singers album but I've got it on now and it's lovely. Hearing a female sing with that kind of voice on The Weight is quality, goes really well.

"Before he got his own style and all" to quote brother Ton Well the man's got a point tbh. We should have some sort of soul/funk/jazz/R&B dedication week or something. And turn this place into the Soulbox.

Bart already mentioned The Staple Singers but Mavis Staples solo isn't mentioned yet I think
From the album Only for the Lonely. Masterpiece.
