the only good thing that roger waters and pink floyd did was taking chinstrokingposhcuntegotrippingpomposity to such an extreme that punk became inevitable. musically its tortuous shit for soulless retards.

Meddle Dark Side of the Moon Wish You Were Here Animals The Wall The Final Cut It is an almost incomprehensibly great run of albums, orchestrated by Roger Waters. I'll go along with the fact that McCartney had Lennon for his best years and the album run of: Help! Rubber Soul Revolver Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band Magical Mystery Tour The White Album Abbey Road Let It Be Which is easily the greatest run of albums of all time. What I'm trying to say is, Roger Waters is definitely a fair shout, however catch me on some days and I'd be inclined to say Bob Dylan. Either way, the answer is one of those two. Thread closed.

It all depends on what your definition of a genius is. I for one think it's way more genius to write brilliant pop songs than to pretend you're some sort of fucking Beethoven writing 15 minute pieces full of pretentious shite but in the end are as soulless and meaningless as my neighbour taking a crap in his back garden. This is not aimed at a particular artist but yeah, what's genius? Is it genius you can play all the tabs and all combinations possible or is it genius to make a song people will remember forever and ever because it outshines in simplicity?

The only way Roger Waters would end up as the biggest genius in the history of music would be if he went on a cheeseburger diet and died weighing 500 pounds. And even then he's probably still behind whatsisname the singer out of the soundtrack of our lives.
The division bell >>>>>>>>>>> Waters solo stuff
In any case, the answer is Dylan.

In modern music Neily Young is a personal favourite. But the more I listen to Miles Davis, the more i realise how amazing he truly was.
