My favourite songwriter of all time, probably. His concert yesterday was a bit of a disappointment though. Even though ill Ryan was amazing but the crowd was awful. Ashes & Fire is number 1 in the album charts here so well yeah you can kind of imagine the kind of shit people that were at the gig. Still, Ryan Adams > life.

So it occurred to me yesterday I haven't listened to any Ryan Adams since Easy Tiger - thus was wondering which you lot would recommend since that record? I always got the impression they've all been a bit patchy since then from reviews but fire away. The reason I'm getting back into him is because I watched this and loved it: www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL08E5C2794D75F37Fedit: Dear John on that (and his EP, not the crap Norah Jones version) are stunning, such a beautiful tune

The self titled album is probably the best he's made since Love Is Hell so I'd say start there.
Everything is pretty debatable when it comes to Ryan. I was never a big fan of the Cardinal's era, I feel since 2010 (with exception of "Orion" the metal album) he's actually been really focused & only put out strong records. Even "III / IV" with the Cardinals (though sounds more like straight up Ryan) contains some of my favourite Ryan moments.
Ashes & Fire is a really focused Ryan LP & even the Taylor Swift covers record is a lot better than it has any right to be.
He's also released some great one-off singles & EPs that are worth checking out. The 1984 EP is a must-hear.

Nice one, noted. Just wiki'd that EP and it's about ten minutes long? Haha I also noticed he's done 15 albums in his 16 years since going solo, insane. You can't help but think he could have trimmed that to around 10 though. And 15 doesn't even include the EP with Dear John!!!

As opposed to karlos, I really loved...(oh shit, I forgot what it was called)*** with the cardinals. The one that had born into the light on it. Saw him with the cardinals open for oasis back around that time, and it opened my eyes to him, after ignoring his career up to that point.

self titled is his greatest album and one of the best albums of the decade in my book.
