Noel Gallagher has revealed that he is a fan of Mumford and Sons, saying that he wishes he had written their song, ‘The Cave’.
The former Oasis man explained that he’s into the TCOTU folk rockers, despite the waistcoats and the beards, and that he admires frontman Marcus Mumford’s distinctive vocals. Gallagher said:
I haven't heard anything that sounds as good as that. I don't mind them. A lot of fucking people hate them in England. I think it's the waistcoat and facial hair. I don't mind them. I think that guy's got a good voice... I wish had written that song. That's the biggest compliment I can pay whoever wrote that.
His thoughts on the band differ from his brother Liam, who recently said of the band: "They look like fucking Amish people. You know, them ones with the big sideys that don't use electricity? Growing their own food and putting barns up. I need music to be a bit more sexy and played by people who look a bit fucking dangerous."

This is a clear sign that Noel Gallagher & his flying birds are hoping to tap into the new-folk movement.
First the bland single, then the announcement that his solo dates will be all seated. I fully expect Noel to take to the stage in a brown cardigan & let 'flute women' sing don't look back in anger on the encore.

Yep Mumford and sons are as bland as Beady eye. I'll forgive him though as the recent compilation he knocked up in Mojo was excellent.

Reaked of 'look at me, I now all of a sudden listen to interesting music'. Should of just come right out and put timeless melody, paperback writer & some Bee Gee's on there as we all know thats all he listens to. |
