tony: TCOTU serial killer (2009)8 suprisingly really good. its just a snapshot of a few days in the lift of tony, one of those guys who we all know one or two of, a weird loner whose not all there and everyone likes to take the piss out of (a bit like andy lol), but is ultimately harmless, only tony isnt. like i say, i really enjoyed it, wasnt perfect though as it was a bit short and there wasnt much in the way of development. id have liked to found out more about tonys backstory and if there was any motive for his killings, but at the same time i think it worked well in a kinda THIS IS TONY, THIS IS WHAT HE DOES kinda way without going any deeper. i 100% recommend giving it a go anyway, pretty certain mahoney would like it.

scott pilgrim vs the world (2010)8.5 amazing fun, cant wait to see it again actually. took me 5 mins or so to get used to at the start as it was slightly different to what i expected but after that it just excellent. cant believe that it seems as if im the first person here to see it actually. wtf, justin beiber is in it?? and it has really good reviews in imdb, i thought it sucked but i guess ill give it a try. i just cant stand michael cera's acting, he seems like a nice guy but his acting is too predictable

Is that Daniel Radcliffe? It looks right up my alley. And Wintersox's.

20 hour bus journey yielded the following: An Accidental HusbandWatchable. Blergh. Not as grossly fucking offensive as, say, P.S. I Love You. 5.1/10 Seven PoundsLiked this a lot more than I expected to. In fact, I expected to fucking hate it and it was manipulative nonsense for the most part, but I didn´t seem to mind that so much. I would shred cancer over my cornflakes just to eat Rosario Dawson´s eyelids. 7.0/10 Some Vin Diesel Film3/10 Smart PeopleIll-advised valium kicked in and I fell asleep. Looked pretty interesting for what I saw though and the presence of Sarah Jessica Parker didn´t actually make me want to kick a puppy in the cunt /10 And just seen now... JarheadLove it. I don´t seem to meet many people who feel the same. 8.4/10

Zombieland - 8/10 Excellent. Woody Harrelson is a geezer. Perfect blend of comedy and violence.
The Pursuit of Happyness - 7.5/10 Wasn't sure I'd like it but it was pretty good. Quite inspirational tbh.

I've had that for a while & not got around to watching it. Is part of the John Cassavetes I've got, I watched the film he made before that, A Woman Under the Influence, but it was fucking hard work. I felt emotionally knackered after watching it which has put me off putting any of the others on. Recent watches: Cobra: 7/10 Escape To Victory 8/10 Wanted: Dead or Alive [1987] Decent 80's action flick, Rutger Hauer hunts down Gene Simmons Of Kiss 6 The Fly [1986] Hadn't seen this for maybe 15 years, still holds up as a really good film. Shame about the birds hair & the bar scene with the dodgy 80's fashions otherwise the Fly would look pretty much timeless. 8 The Dead Zone [1983] Had a Cronenberg double bill, this was fucking great & I'm pretty sure it's the type of film that gets better with repeated viewings. Really great to see christopher walken play a good guy for a change & not attempt to dance once though. Really great actor tbh, great film & looks completely timeless, had I not known any of the cast It wouldn't be very easy to guess when this was made. 8.5 Audition [1999] So I finally fucking saw this. I came home really pissed after a gig a few years back and this was on channel 4 & I saw the final 15 minutes & thought WTF So I've finally got around to watching what is seen as a modern classic in the horror genre. I must say, I was slightly disappointed by it, not that it wasn't a good film because it clearly is but after having that final scene haunt me for a few years I was kinda disappointed that the whole film was just a build up for that final set piece. Had I not seen the ending before perhaps it would of done more for me. Like I say, good film just expected a bit more but I'll revisit it again soon & hopefully without any expectations will enjoy it even more. 7 Creature From the Black Lagoon [1954] Man in a monster suit swimming around Killing people, still pretty fun considering it's nearly 50 years old. 6 & bits on the films I saw at frightfest thesoapboxx.info/2010/09/02/frightfest/

300 Often when we use the term "epic" to describe a film, we use it as an adjective to describe our own feelings about the film. The more epic it is, the higher the rating. But if we use epic to describe just how tantamount a film might be, it takes on a bit different meaning. Thinking back to mahoney's post about Rocky IV, I think that was as close as it could get without being tongue in cheek. This film embraces something The Lord Of The Rings could not, mostly because it's story was tight and compact. Don't get me wrong, TLOTR - 9/10 Don't get me wrong, Rocky IV - 9/10 But this film did epicness with just the right amount of tongue in cheek. The action is something to behold. 7/10
