I do enjoy my films but rarely post in this thread, mainly because I go through phases of watching loads and then none for ages but i've been in a watching phase the last couple of weeks so here's a few I've enjoyed.. LolitaCliche, but not as good as the book, it seems to lack the intensity and rapture that the book encapsulates so well, hats off though because at the time it was made it would have been very risky, James Mason does a pretty good job playing a slightly more reserved version of Humbert Humbert (though i'll forver think of him as God thanks to Eddie Izzard..) and Peter Sellers is great as quilty, also not so sure on the in medias res route Kubrick takes, however an enjoyable movie that probably went as far as it possibly could considering the subject matter and the time 6.5/10 A Serious ManReally enjoyed, love the Coens anyway but they've pulled another one out of the hat, been getting into religous theology a fair bit in the last year or so and that helped me get it a lot more than I probably would have considering its overtly Jewish backdrop, fantastic ending aswell 8/10 ManhattanReally enjoyed this, a fan of Woody Allen anyway and this is considered amongst his best and rightly so, not much to add really, its a typical Allen film, intricate, intelligant and neurotic word play, the thing I love most about Allens films are his nods and leanings towards all forms of culture, and he effortlessly drops them into the script and I find myself rewinding bits and re-listening, 'your self esteem is one notch below Kafka's'.. 8/10 Hannah & Her SistersAnother of Allens best movie's, Michael Caine is great in it, infact he won an oscar for it but couldn't accept it in person because he was filming extra footage for Jaws the Revenge , Allens great in it, and he interplays it all with a low/high art interplay. 7.5/10 Dr Strangelove or How I Learned to Stop Worrying And Love The BombBrilliant, one of the best films I've seen in ages, loved it, Sellers is fantastic in his three roles, all played completely different, great concept and a brilliant black comedy slant on the whole cold war thing by Kubrick, famously started out as a thriller but morphed into a black comedy, Sellers (and George C Scott) really does take it to another lever. 9/10 Citizen KaneA classic I've never seen and another brilliant film, one that sucks you in and has you thinking and researching about it for days afterwards, great history about the making/production/release of it and being made in 1941 it was obviously massivly influencial and took film making to another lever, but the story is engrossing, and Orson Welles is an absolute don of the highest proportions, writing, directing and starring in it, all at the age of 25! A must watch for any film fan. 9/10

Nice to see you post in here Kevin Krononbergs. Dr Strangelove is indeed brilliant, been meaning to see Citizen Kane forever, or should I say, I'd love to see the ending some day of Citizen Kane
Edit, also incase you didn't know Gruff's film Seperado is out now on DVD, I've ordered it should be a blast.

well, i know it was based on Michael Oher's book, which i have not read, so i don't know if the interpretation was a little cheesed up or not. i'm sure there were some overly cheesed up moments in comparison to the book. and yes, there were moments that were definitely preachy. i was just really touched by the generosity and caring of people. i loved at the end when they showed all the real photos of him with his family that's what made me love it so much.

I really liked that bruv, PISSED on mum & dad plus had that fit slut from hollyoaks/inbetweeners. Honestly thought it was one of the best british horror films there has been in recent years.

yeah got it from poundland the other week. didnt think much of it at all tbh. the likes of TONY, eden lake and mum and dad were more my cup of tea when it comes to recent british horror.
just didnt seem to connect with any of the characters in this and they ended up annoying me for most of it by being poofs.

nice one. i love cash converters for cheap dvds. only thing is though, years of shopping in there has made me feel ripped off every time i spent more than 3 quid on a dvd elsewhere

ha yeah I am the same, 3 quid is my fucking limit these days. Though I did just spend 9 quid on Gruffs film though I doubt I'd come across that second hand anytime soon.

i went in hmv the other day and outside of the sale crap i couldnt believe how much people pay for dvds. 15 quid and stuff ffs. amazon marketplace or cash converters do me just fine. thing is im like it with presents too, when someone asks me what i want for xmas or birthday i find it hard to think of stuff cos i know if i tell them to get me a dvd or something they will go to hmv and pay a tenner when i could have gotten it from amazon marketplace for 1p plus 1.24 postage

haha yep, makes me laugh the 3 for 15 quid, people think that's a really good deal. I usually get around 10 DVD's for 15 quid
Mad times bruv, I've started to think about selling my entire CD collection for a quid each at the bootfair, just keep anything i know is worth a few quid like the stairs & strands records.

Love Actually nth time I see it (not voluntarily, there's usually never anything better on tbf). Say whatever you want about this film but the chemistry between Liam Neeson and Thomas Sangster is what pulls this film to the end. Probably the better one of the bunch of this 'ensamble-cast rom/com' trend. 6/10
