Inspired by Karl, I recently watched Cheech & Chong's Up in Smoke, it's so funny in that innocent yet naughty 70's way, isn't it? Life was so much better back then. And so was fashion. 7.8/10 Oh, Stripes: Bill Murray really is the best person in the world, isn't he? This is definitely a comedy classic. "Chicks dig me cause I rarely wear underwear"...genius 8.6/10

It will likely bring a 7 or 8, steve. para has recently seen a film she hadn't seen before. RATE IT ALREADY. WELL I DIDNT SEE THE BEGINNING, but ok, JUNO 7/10; pleasant. Agree with the Hellraiser and Devil assessments.

Hey Para & Bakester, I am yet to congratulate you on your getting together so let me take the time to wish you all the best for the future & hope you live a long & happy life together.
Now Bakester, you've been with her for more than a few weeks now mate. Time to put your foot down & watch the films that YOU want to see, nevermind her. If you want to watch some nasty man shit you put it on. Put your foot down before it is too late.

You picked the wrong one there Para, should of gone for a tougher man who could make you feel safe at night, like Rollinice.

'the elephant man' is shit. I think I rated it very low, perhaps fargo low, on one of the previous forums. I thought it was a bit silly and that it had aged very very much and the story didn't have any meaning whatsoever other than "hey, let's see how many eggs we can throw at that rat faced man, the elephant man" it's a brilliant film. sort yaself out ffs.

Assault On Dome 4 [1997] Picked it up for two quid because it had the mighty Bruce Campbell in it. Was fucking shit Super low-budget terrorists in space type deal with Campbell playing the lead villain. It was entertaining but had it not had Campbell's Shakespeare quotes & some overacting it would be been unwatchable. Not bad enough to be 'so good it's bad' so was kind of forgettable. 4

[#002] Fitzcarraldo [1982] First film I've seen from my Herzog/Kinski boxset. Such an ambitious film that has tons of legendary tales about what went down on the set. Similar in some respects to There Will Be Blood, one mans obsession with what he's out to achieve. Didn't feel it's 2 hour 30 length though it probably could of done with a little more drama in the script. Too much time was spent just lingering over the scenery which always looked impressive but that time could of been spent more wisely on building up characters as really only Fitzgerald was given any real depth. Hugely impressive, just not as gripping as perhaps it should of been. 7.5

it's be nice this year if people could actually include some text with their scores, such as mahoney does just above. always look forward to reading peoples opinions, even if it's only one line. just adding a film title and a score reminds me of why i hate threads such as 'rate the last album you listened to' or 'what are you listening to right now' anyway, just watched this: The Heartbreak Kid (1972) Watched it as a result of Father Ted night on channel 4. Forgot I saw the 2007 remake a coupla years back. Where that was obvious and puerile, this was beautifully poised and charming. Charles Grodin manages to be likeable throughout despite his character being a prat and Cybill Shepherd is surely one of the most effortlessly attractive women in history tbh. Lovely film, excellently acted. 8.2/10
