I don't know, Lynds, I'm a complete mongo. Gonna watch it again tonight probably. Agreed on Mean Girls, it's the best teen film of the last 10 years at least. No surprise it was written by Tina Fey MY HEROINE [ 020] The Social NetworkFucking love it. I could watch it over and over and I'd still like it. Love me some Fincher FFS, 9/10 [021] AliensMeh, I'm not that into this type of sci-fi (I like fantasy sci-fi a la Star Wars much more). It was still entertaining enough for a weekend film I suppose. Nice effects for its era. James Cameron is a total don. 7/10 [022] Jaws-"Come here, give us a kiss" -"Why?" -"Cause I need it." Nuff said, 9/10

Last night I smashed out a double whammy, back to back, one-two of.. 008: Star Wars Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980) Irvin KreshnerCliched but its definitely the best of them all, i'm sure these things have been said so many time before but its a lot darker (which doesn't necessarily mean better, but it is in this case) the acting is better and the story and mythology really bleeds out of this one, we learn a lot. I wish I could have watched this when it first came out, Star Wars has seeped so much into popular culture that you kind of know loads about it anyway, it must have been mind blowing watching this at the cinema in 1980. 8.4 009: Star Wars Episode VI - Return Of The Jedi (1983) Richard MarquandI love the way that throughout 'Empire' and this one, the pacing is really good and we visit different worlds that all have their own unique feel, this one starts out a bit more light hearted but gradually grows, I suppose with the Wookies and the like its still probably the lightest of the bunch though you have Luke's confrontation with Vader and the Emperor as a ying to the lightnesses yang, this is probably the least favouirite critically of the originals but for me it just about edges out the first one, also has the infamous Carrie Fisher looking hot as fu ck scene so thats a bonus. 8.1

I never trust anybody who never saw Star Wars 2000 times as a child. I can't imagine my childhood without Star Wars. As a child Empire was always my least favourite, revisited them for the first time in maybe 10 years a few years back & the flms had traded places in how much I enjoy them. Magic films all 3. You've probably heard of it but if not youtube Star Wars Christmas special, it's so shit

Family Guy: Something, Something, Something, Dark Side (2010) Your typical Family Guy shenanigans done packed fairly well into a Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back parody. Funny in places if you are in the mood for Family Guy. 6/10

Fuck me, I really am old.

Frankie and Johnny (1991) Al Pacino gets out of jail, gets a job as a cook at a New York City restaurant, falls in love with Michelle Pfeiffer and kinda stalks her. Pacino is a little weird and Pfeiffer is a little boring but very cute. 5/10

He's Just Not That Into You (2009) Bunch 30 somethings moaning about dating, relationships and not getting laid. Scarlett Johansson is decent in this. Everyone else sucks. Justin Long licks more donkey balls. 3/10

Blade Runner (1982) and Jackie Brown (1997); 9 and 8.5; both lend themselves greatly to repeated viewings, especially Blade Runner, feels like the very first tiimeee...; best atmosphere in a film ever; hard to believe it was done so long ago; samuel l. is awesome in Jackie B.; you can listen to him talk indefinitely; like honey to mah mothefuckin ears; robert d., bridget fonda and foxy pam grier were great too of course

The Royal Tenenbaums (2001) Anderson's follow up to Rushmore is about Gene Hackman trying to get back into his family's graces after leaving them many years before. His three children, Ben Stiller, Luke Wilson & Gwyneth Paltrow had large success as children but have all grown up to be miserable. Unfortunately Bill Murray played a smaller role but Hackman was amazing. The film was rather funny throughout and the story went along well enough to keep me interested. 7/10

[023] Manhattan
I've never been a super Woody Allen fan, and I was only familiar with Match Point and his recent stuff (which is a bit sub par supposedly compared to his stuff from the 70's) and I thought this one was a nice little number. Good character development, I thought, although a bit vague overall. Loved that it was in black and white. Loved the ending. 7.5/10 [024] GoodfellasI always caught this film on TV either halfway through or by pieces; so seeing it from the very start was fantastic. What's there to say about it? It's fucking brilliant; probably my sencond favorite Scorsese film after Taxi Driver. Hell, it might even top TD.... How good was the whole 'high on cocaine/extremely paranoid' scene? FFS Drugs are bad kids, mmkay? Joe Pesci has to be the best one in it, no? I don't know, they're all great. 9/10

True Grit (2010) Jeff Bridges and Matt Damon help a 14 year old girl track down the man who killed her father. Bridges was awesome and provided plenty of comic relief. Damon was Damon. An unexpected highlight was the girl. Her lines were delivered very well and you really kinda believed her. How she came about bad guy Josh Brolin was a bit too easy but the ending was very solid. 7/10

That scene is handled much better in the original. Same scene but more convincing.
