Especially with Christian Bale, because I really can't stand him, but luckily he's an undeniably great actor. I guess the part at the very end when Bale starts to break down while he's talking about his brother (Wahlberg) and then gets up and walks off camera wasn't scripted. Apparently he really did start crying and had to walk off set to compose himself. Dunno if that's actually true, but if it is, kinda shows how much he puts into the roles he plays. Sure he's nuts in real life, but I almost feel like you have to be a little crazy to be a convincing actor. I read that bit about the end scene on the couch too. Fair play to him, but he still boils my blood for some reason. Also, I agree with the having to be a bit buts to be a great actor, pity De Niro is only nuts now. Also, this part cracks me up for some reason:

Favourite bits: Toys jumping up and down on the motion sensor outside the shop Buzz (new) when he's back in "Ranger" mode Buzz Lightyear running, cracks me up ;D Also watched : 7/10 Really enjoyed this too, might be a bit long but still entertaining Nice couple of twists

And really, who doesn't like some k-stew. Moi. Can't stand her, worst actress of the last few years. [078] How to Train Your DragonWell this was unexpectedly good; although I had read it got very good reviews and did well with audiences, I usually take what they say about family/animated films with a grain of salt. But yeah this was really good. My only problem with this was: who thought of making vikings have a Scottish accent? Really grinded my gears, that. Unless there's some Scottish viking tribe I'd never heard about! Still, this is worth a watch. [079] My GirlOk so I fucked up and forgot to download films at work to watch during the weekend, and I've had to rely on whatever's on TV. What a corny sob-fest this is . The only part I honestly liked was Jamie Lee Curtis and her awesome late 60's/early 70's fashion/hair style. [080] I.Q.Again, another film taken from TV. It's kind of ironic, and a little bit sad, when the whole plot of your film revolves around physics and chemistry and all those things, and the two leads have absolutely no chemistry at all. Meg Ryan plays the same quirky, doubtful but funny girl, and although Tim Robbins is actually really good (for a dumb, hopeless rom-com character), this really didn't do anything for me. The photography is nice though, I liked the whole northern, middle-of-spring, 50's aesthetic.

[081] Before the Devil Knows You're DeadOk yeah this was good enough for a Sunday afternoon; I fucking love Philip Seymour Hoffman, what a man. The editing gets a bit grinding by the end but it's a nice concept. The acting is pretty good, but for some reason there was something missing, some more character development (yeah I know there's plenty but the dad for example, I thought he wasn't developed enough to deliver that kind of ending). As with everything, I end up making it sound much worse than it is, I actually recommend this. [082] Viktor Vogel: Commercial ManFuck me, this is bad; the 'comedy' is for 15 year old girls who like to see a silly boy knock things over and dance like he's in a fucking retarded school play. The only scene I genuinely enjoyed was when he ran into the car and broke his nose and bled. Cunt.

#68 Octopussy [1983] Didn't enjoy this much. I'm not a bond expert but I much preferred Diamonds Are Forever which I watched recently. Judging from these two films Sean Connery is a much better Bond than Moore, he comes across as a more smarmy character & there was too much humour thrown in for my liking. Also whilst it was entertaining enough it really did feel it's 2 hour running time. 5 #69 Fear X [2003] A slow paced atmospheric thriller starring John Turturro. A simple story told well. Not sure If I'm a fan of the ending or not, I think it just about worked but perhaps could of done with some better writing on that part. I liked it more than most judging by it's typical rating. 7 #70 Magic [1978] Anthony Hopkins plays a ventriloquist & is on the verge of big things with help from his manager Burgess Meredith but Hopkins starts to lose the plot when he becomes a little too attached to his dummy. This was pretty decent with good performances throughout. I'm surprised it isn't a little more well known considering it's a physiological thriller starring a younger Hopkins. My only complaint was how predictable the whole thing was. I think even the writers must of known this as they threw what felt like a last minute twist in for the final few seconds of the film which felt completely out of place. 6.75 #71 The Child [1977] An obscure exploitation movie that really should remain that way. It did have a uneasy kind of atmosphere about it but that was mostly down to how badly it was shot. Really was a struggle to get through this. I accept the budget was probably almost non-existent but the shit acting & horrible soundtrack combined to make this a film I wish I'd not bothered with. 3 #72 Joe Kidd [1972] Pretty good Western by John Sturges who did The Magnificent Seven & The Great escape. It isn't as good as those two due to it's lack of depth but it does have three of my favourite actors In Eastwood, Duvall & the mighty John Saxon. Eastwood delivers some typically classic Eastwood banter & John Saxon plays the most un-Saxon like character as a Mexican with a huge tash. Kind of odd to see him not playing a cop. 7.5 #73 The Viking Queen [1967] A pretty average period piece put out by Hammer in the late 60's. Whilst there was nothing terrible about this film there wasn't much to get excited about either. I tend to find that when Hammer attempt a grand film in stature the constraints of their budget always stand out like a sore thumb. They really should of stuck with their smaller scale Horror films as the small budgets tended to not harm the overall outcome like it did on films like 'One Million Years B.C', 'She' & This. 5 #74 Unforgiven [1992] Shockingly this was the first time I'd seen this. Really good stuff, I think it's one of the few Westerns that will always hold up well without aging too badly. Eastwood as a director is always best when he takes him time telling a simple story & thats what you've got here. 'They cut her titties?' 8.25 #75 Hider in the House [1989] This looked like a creepy horror/thriller from the description but It ended up being more like a comedy for me. I've always liked Gary Busey, he's one of those over the top actors that I can't help but laugh at. He plays a loon who was beaten by his parents as a child & just been released from the mental home. He finds an empty house, breaks in and boards himself in the loft & spies on the family that eventually move in. Pretty predictable what follows yet Busey just kept cracking me up every time his face was on screen. It is a not very good film but I had such a laugh with it has to get a decent rating. 6 #76 The Chaser [2008] Watched this for the second time & I loved it even more second time round. Without a doubt one of my favourite films of the past 10 years. The same guy (Hong-jin Na) wrote & directed this & you'd never guess this was his first film as there is barely a fault throughout. I found it really hard-hitting & surprisingly disturbing in parts on first viewing but didn't expect it to evoke the same feelings second time round yet somehow it managed it. Also, the actors in this are fucking great. Yun-seok Kim who plays the cop turned pimp is sensational. Hong-jin Na's second film The Yellow Sea should be out over here this year, I can't wait to see it. The Trailer looks really good even if there are no subs. It's also got the main to actors from The Chaser in it. 9.5 #77 Messenger of Death [1988] Bronson plays a newspaper reporter who comes to investigate killings within a Mormon community. I enjoyed it though Bronson doesn't get to cause as much damage as he usually would. Probably because he was fucking 66 when he made this. Pretty decent plot though at times it felt more like an extended version of Murder She Wrote with Bronson playing Jessica Fletcher's role. Still, Bronson beats the shit out of an assassin towards the end to let the viewer know.. You still don't fuck with Bronson. 6.5 #78 Dogtooth [2009] econd viewing of this & it was just as disturbingly comical & thought provoking as the first time I saw it. Be quite interested to pick up a DVD of this if it has an extended documentary or director's commentary on it as I'd be interested to find out more about how they came up with this idea for a film. I see it's up for best foreign language film at the Oscars which is great but I can't help but think if an American or British director had made this it would of been completely ignored by the awards. 8.5 #79 Creepshow 2 [1987] This is one of those films I taped off the TV as a child & watched on a regular basis. It feels a bit tame now yet the cheap effects still hold up well & the awful 80's fashions alone make it a fun viewing. 6.25 #80 Slumdog Millionaire [2008] I finally got around to seeing this & it's definitely worthy of the praise it received. Personally I think the film would of perhaps benefited from scrapping the entire millionaire concept and just concentrating on the lives of the three main characters in the slums as the performances from the younger actors surpassed that of the older ones by quite some distance. Still, highly enjoyable & I'm yet to see a Boyle film I'm yet to like though I've not watched The Beach yet so maybe things could change. 8 #81 They [2002] I picked this up ages ago because it said it was a Wes Craven film on the box. Stuck it in the DVD player only to find out it's 'Wes Craven presents'. Wasn't very good. By no means terrible, just very bland & predictable. Worth a watch I suppose though I'll never want to see it again. 5 #82 Dial M for Murder [1954] I absolutely loved this film. The performances were great, the dialogue came thick & fast & the plot went along at such a pace yet never ever felt confusing. It's very rare you find a plot so complex yet delivered so effortlessly. I know this one was based on a stage-play so fair play to whoever wrote this, it's riveting stuff. 9 #83 Snatch. [2000] First time I'd seen this start to finish. I'd say it's pretty much on par with Lock Stock. Brilliantly written characters, possibly the best part I've ever seen Brad Pitt play as the Pikey. Loads of hilarious moments & a good script to match it. 8.5 #84 Tremors [1990] I'd not seen this for probably 15 years. It holds up pretty well. Nothing groundbreaking but good cheesey fun with some over the top acting & decent effects. I had a good time with it, will be watching the other three in the near future. I'd completely forgot Kevin Bacon is in this. 7

The Wire Season 2This season was a little bit easier for me to swallow, and I liked it because of its family core/loyalty elements, something sort of lacking in season 1. I kept waiting for the drug storyline to connect to the ports, but I guess they saved that for season 3? Cheeky! Anyway the last 4 or 5 episodes of the season were the best; that montage with I Walk the Line on the background: . However, there were a few characters I really couldn't care for here, Ziggy being the obvious choice (although his lack of appeal and stupidity is part of what drives the plot forward, I still couldn't give two shits about that idiot...the acting wasn't too strong and I think it needed a very strong actor to pull it off), also The Greek, honestly didn't care for him at all, there was just nothing there to make me interested in him. On the other hand, Omar has got to be the most intresting and well-developed character I've encountered in years. Everytime he's on screen my face lights up and the episode gets 67% better, he's just magical and you can really care for him and even root for him. I have a feeling he's going to be even more key in season 3, and I can't wait to see it all unfold. Btw, Daniels = Barbados Slim?? Legend.

Glad there's a couple of us doing The Wire at the same time. I'm sure there was someone else too actually, maybe Rhea? Might stick on a couple of episodes from season 3 just now. Agree with you on Ziggy's character and even Nick's to an extent but I did like Frank and felt for him, especially as the season progressed. The introduction of Brother Mouzone felt like a major thing too, only time shall tell.

Yeah man, I honestly almost cried a bit when they pulled him out of the water, he was a man driven by his loyalty and love for his people, doing a wrong for the right reasons and the actor executed it very well. Nicko was alright too, was tempted to put him in my 'I don't care for you' list but I guess he was also motivated by love and family rather than greed, and if I had my way, he'd be a key player in season 3, for revenge or what have you...but that seems unlikely. That bow-tie motherfucker was the shit, wasn't he? That scene with Omar in the motel is probably my favorite of the entire season. God I love Omar Shame about D'Angelo too, btw, didn't see it coming, but I've felt that Stringer has his dark side since season 1, that guy's going to betray everyone and everything, I can feel it.

I was really shocked when D got taken out too, it felt like it came out of nowhere, the show almost revolved around him. Although I'm still reeling at them killing off Wallace, he was a legend. I reckon it'll all kick off when Avon gets out of jail and no doubt finds out what's going down with Stringer. On a side note, I was under the impression that Poot's name was Poo until the other day.
