I wonder if MGMT will have a new one out by the end of the year... they are headlining a day at Osheaga in August.
Oh and new Walkmen album is out in June.

despite fearing the worst, the first 6-7 tracks on nicki minaj's new album are really fucking good. the rest is quite shit, but anyway.

Few things I've discovered lately that I'm enjoying Hunx - Hairdresser Blues I really enjoyed Hunx album 'Too Young To Be In Love' with his band 'The Punx' from last year. This is him on his own without the women providing backing vocals. Fantastic blast of upbeat, cheerful garage rock done in a 60's pop style. Very similar to the Nobunny record which I loved from a few years ago. Willis Earl Beal - Acousmatic Sorcery I'm really intrigued by this artist. His recordings are extremely lo-fi in the same vain as Daniel Johnston & his songs cover a range of genre's yet quite often he reminds me of Tom Waits. After a few listens I'm not sold on the entire record but when it's good it's great. Beware, theres a 17 track version of this which isn't the album. It's what he recorded and gave away with rougher versions of the songs. The correct record is an 11 tracker with a bonus track.

I have tried avoiding Hunx for a while, probably cos it was firstly my girlfriend who talked me about him I think I'm gonna keep on that stance anyway. RYM says Nobunny is releasing something soon btw

new Best Coast is quite MEH. The lyrics at times are very cringeworthy.

It is indeed a bit meh but it has produced me some warm feelings inside. At first I thought it was too clean but I think it is very well produced. Once you go past the lofi route you need to find something, and I think Brion has brought life on the songs with some tasteful arrangements. Although I can only see it failing miserably and Best Coast disappearing forever
