Yeah the Pumpkins is getting pretty much good reviews all round except in the NME where it was slated. A bit like the Japandroids album which has been universally acclaimed and quite right too except for the NME who dismissed them as a couple of journeymen Fucking awful rag of a music magazine the nme these days.

I really can't get on with that Japandroids record, give it a good go but it's just doing nothing for me so far. I'll try out the new Smashing Pumpkins, never really dug any of their records but usually have found some great tunes spread throughout their career.

Is there a release date for Action bronson's next record yet?
I hate to say it but we are nearly half way through the year & there really hasn't been much that I've really loved. Really liked Bronson, Cribs, Weller, Natural Child. Dr John & Hunx & then I absolutely love the new Spiritualized then theres a ton of stuff which I'd class as good yet forgettable. Maybe I was spoiled a bit last year as by midway through the year there were some albums which I fucking loved. Just hope the second half of 2012 is a bit better.

Heard Hawley's new one yesterday for the first time...absolutely love it. My favourite thing of the year by far to this point.

I like Hawley's new record but I think I prefer his old sound rather than this big psychedelic rock style he's gone for. The first half of the record doesn't really do much for me but theres some fine songs towards the end of the record.

Yeah, it's a decent record, I'm glad he's done it if he felt it and then he can return to croon mode in the future. I think those songs will sound really improved live, has any of you seen him on this tour?

Downloaded a free remix/mashup record by Max Tannone who did the Jaydiohead record & most recently mixed Ghostface with a bunch of African Funk. This ones called Mic Check 1234! & puts some well known Hip-hop against some old fashioned punk rock. I guess it's gimmicky but the sunshine was out this morning & it sounded just fucking fantastic. Free download or stream if you ever wanted to hear Black Star with the Ramones. www.maxtannone.com/projects/miccheck1234/

yeah I had a fucking blast with it this morning. I think it was just overkill about 5-6 years ago, seems everyday there was a new one about. I was bowling around doing the chicken strut to it this morning at work, so powerful.

Bored me to tears, that. Dunno, maybe it's a grower but at this point I'd rather detonate a grenade in my face and spend 2:45 picking the shrapnel out of my fat cheeks.
So far this year, my favourite record has been from The Wedding Present but also really liked..
Spiritualized Jack White The Maccabees Richard Hawley Django Django Graveyard Train (can't recommend this enough tbh) The Walkmen
There may be others but they're the ones I've found myself spending time with the most.

An album I've recently discovered which I'm enjoying is Funky Was the State of Affairs by Fergus & GeronimoIt's for the most part post-punk sounding like Gang Of Four but delivered in a spontaneous almost throwaway quality that you'd expect from the likes of Ween & Brakes. It's by no means perfect with many tracks ending before you feel they've ever reached anywhere near their potential but I keep coming back to it. exystence.net/blog/2012/07/03/fergus-geronimo-funky-was-the-state-of-affairs-2012/

I'm digging the King Tuff record, lots of fun culminated by the exhilarating and fantastic Hit & Run.
